Queen Cutlery Company Closes

Several threads on this already. One here in general and a big one over in traditionals.

It was for a long time! Add some pictures to the Queen picture thread while you are here:)
Yeah I get that now. I hadn't been keeping up as well as I usually do so now I get to feel stupid.
I don't have any Queen knives, however I have a Trestle Pines knife which was made by Queen. It's a bitch to sharpen (S30V) but holds an edge good.
I hope GEC comes out with a stainless Beer Scout with Bucks 420hc steel. It's my favorite steel as I can get it shaving sharp freehanding and has ok edge retention. When you can get the blade sharp without gizmos, you don't need much edge retention.

Unfortunately, the mountain man that i sent as per Julie suggested, returned it back to me. The package was opened. Nevertheless, it has label: Return to sender. Refused. Unable to forward return to sender.
i wrote the address correctly.
Now, wondering why

Queen isn't doing warranty/repair work at this time. Ryan Daniels told me that at a knife show last Saturday. Perhaps Julie wasn't aware of that yet when you spoke with her.

Totally understood. I sent the pics to Julie in the end of first week of December. Julie promptly replied my email. It was not when Queen formally closed their business, was it? So, on 7 or 8 of December, i sent it to Julie. On the Return notification, it dated 28 December.
I am fine. It will be my personal project to repair it by myself in the future. I love this pocket knife very much. In my opinion Queen D2 hold the edge nicely.

I sent one in also, in mid Nov. No idea what the plan is for it. Got a letter that it had been recieved, nothing since.

Thanks, I hope the restructuring goes well. I agree with 42Blades, please do not morph into zombie brand. I was quite disappointed when Kissing Crane went Chinese. Do not know if they still have some made in Germany.

I would suspect because they are shut down and there on no employees working to do any work at the present. Hopefully, a restructuring occurs and as mentioned Queen doesn't morph into another Chinese made American brand.

I am 22, and maybe it's just from a different view point, but i think the mass appeal of traditional knives IS the dead stuff. A piece of natural material- be it would or bone, or even acrylics to some extent- has natural character in its flaws and design. Each piece is unique.
That is why I love traditional knives, and to be honest I used to be into the "tactical" and ultra modern knives, but I can't imagine spending the amount of money most new knives cost on a knife that is the exact same as two million other ones out there. I can absolutely appreciate a nice titanium framelock, it feels crisp and "high tech", but it also just feels like a group of materials put together on a conveyor line.

I Had A Knife Store Owner In Boise Tell Me Queen Cutlery Has Not Delivered Another Dealer A $30,000 Prepaid Order.

If true, that'd be one foolish dealer. Anyway there's nothing dishonorable about bankruptcy, life happens, bankruptcy helps bring a firm positive change or an equitable death.

According to the March 2018 issue of Knife Magazine the cash flow issues are "rooted in what state auditors believe to be a case of employee theft that began before the Daniels' purchase of Queen... The hope and intent is to have the company back up and running in less than six months, bringing back the furloughed workers, but possibly with a different managing staff."

Woo hoo

Jim
