QuietBearr cannot be trusted with your knives

WOW! That is a sad way for an "expert" to treat a fine knife and maker! Thanks for the heads up to anyone who may have thought of dealing with the guy.

Logan contacted me this AM. He wants pics of the knife, and says if it is as bad as I say he'll pay me.

I wish this had just been done correctly from the start.

Not even enough respect to take your word for it.

Guess it's time to turn our collective backs and walk away.

With a sour taste in our mouths.:grumpy:

I wish I had known you were going to loan him one...I would have warned you. He did a review of the Schrade design I did and it wasn't exactly pretty. I would have begged you not to loan him one of your knives. Using a Hunter for a pry bar makes as much sense as whoever reviewed Brent's Besh-Wedge commando knife placing it in a bushcraft competition against a knife actually designed for bushcraft...WTF?

Here is the video he did of the Schrade knife. Be prepared to cringe a couple of times and be paying close attention at the 6 and 8 minutes. I didn't complain because it actually demonstrated the toughness of the knife and...it is supposed to be a survival knife so I thought what the heck... plus it didn't cost me anything. I definitely wouldn't loan him any of my personal knives though.

As for his comment about my knife designs cutting ability I am thinking it may well have been the operator, it seemed to do ok when I first got mine.

I actually hadn't watched his reviews, but now that I have seen at least one let me see if I understand this guy.

He hits wood (and sometimes rocks) with knives and calls that a review? Noss would be better.

At 5min 20sec he goes on about how the knife is no good at carving. But you can clearly see and hear that the knife is dull as hell.

A dull knife is never good at carving. That might be the problem eh Logan

Agreed, the knife was not sharpened properly.

I couldn't believe he set up on a rock...at least Noss is more interesting in his unorthodox testing methods.

Sorry to read these about these bad peoples.
I think you Andy had a nice behaviour aginst this strange guy.
that for sure doesn't know how to test properly a knife
He is really a ..... :D

I love how he is stabbing the knife into a piece of lumber, misses the wood and hits the rock. Twice.

I have words for this kind of knife "testing" but they would not be appropriate for an open forum.

It isn't a review - it is an idiot with a knife that has been loaned to him performing a destruction test - poorly.

What does stabbing a kiln dried piece of wood and then prying it supposed to prove - other than the attempt to destroy it?

What skill would you need, in the bush, that would require the repeated stabbing of a piece of wood gathered from home depot? Attempting to destroy wood, and then to flub the test so badly as to stab a rock is just idiocy.

He can't be trusted with knives simply because he has no earthly clue how to use them nor send them through the mail, nor respect them. A monkey with a sharp (for a little while) piece of steel does not a knife expert make.

Sad story. It's really troubling to hear about fellow knife nut (I'm probably giving him more credit than I should) that would have so little honor in the matter. The only plus in all this is that he finally owned up to issue, although that certainly doesn't make things right or bring back your knife into usable condition.

Very sorry about the loss of your knife... The video pretty much tells the tale. After some dizzying scenic panning, it cuts to the scene of the crime! I was cringing while watching that...

Note: I did like the Mistwalker vid, like the difference between night & day...

It takes a special kind of person to ship a fixed blade knife in a soft envelope; that's just dangerous.
Lucky he did break off the tip off or someone could have gotten hurt.

Those vids above show that he has no idea what he is doing.

Sorry to hear about your knife; that sucks.

Sending stuff to people for a video review is a great idea, but yeah, it's always a good idea to vet them first. At least watch a few of their videos to get an idea of what they do. I don't know how much he messes with customs, but cutlerylover has done a good job with the gear I have sent him.

Although, I do send stuff to those Woodsmonkey guys, and we all know how shady they are. Especially that Joe guy.
