Taurus makes a decent 1911, too.

on the subject of the homemade nessie -- start with a Russell Green River Skinner and remove the bits you don't need.

Very nice, that patch signed by Uncle E himself?

I'm assuming so. Either Ethan Becker signed it or some dude named E B squiggle squiggle signed it! LOL

I will put my ''regular'' patch on before I wear it...the special patch was just for the photo-op...now it goes back in the sealed baggie

1911 fans, what are your thoughts on the best bang for one's buck 1911 clone?

Its hard to beat a Milspec Springfield. Its a great platform for future upgrades if you want them. I bought this one used for 600.00 and it has all new internals, novaks, fitted bushing, etc. Im going to get a true fitted Beavertail instead of the drop in but other than that its about perfect for me.

Yeah warrior, that was the first set of two that I made. My second set was much better.

I'm out near-ish Carbondale for work all the time. Usually within 30 miles or so. Never actually made it down there though. I should one of these days. Just for the hell of it. Been to most of the other remote-ish "big"-ish cities in Illinois.

Speaking of, Dubz, I'm gonna be up your way come friday morning. Going to spend the weekend with my brother and his fam. Coming back Sunday night. Gonna be in the Springfield/Taylorville/Lincoln triangle.

Just saw on the news it's National Truffle Day. I haven't even started shopping.
