Rambo’s “Real” knife

That's interesting, I hope they hold true to the basic tenets of the Rambo story and lore. I would be surprised if they went with a custom knife, it's very hard to commercialize those and produce them in numbers and prices that are profitable for everybody involved. Will be interesting to see if they make the knife a central part of the story like in the past editions.

Yup...going to be directed by Jalmari Helander, who directed the amazingly good Sisu.

If he was a chef ! ;)

I'm pretty sure most people got your joke. Nothing like some good old American sarcasm, amirite?

As has been mentioned probably in this thread, in the book he had some nondescript "hunting knife." It certainly wasn't the star of the show like it became in the movie.

And that's exactly what they did for the sequel, Part 2. The blade was either all black or all blasted or something. And they changed it to the two-tone so that it would show up on screen better and look more menacing. It's hollywood, baby.

Just teasing . Any decent butchers knife would probably actually work fine .

But I think , just looking really mean , is important sometimes . 🤷‍♂️

not like the rambo knife, but putting some reality into the movie.....possibly a Buck 119. while not a military issue was bought and carried by some....
It was supposed to be an imposing knife. I would suggest a Western Bowie (w49), these were a known carry in Vietnam.

It's "if he were a chef" DocJD DocJD but we'll let it slide, as you never claimed to be a Dr. of English. ;)

That's my retaliatory dig in defense of Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer 🤣

If we are talking context? Let's say (IS)
He would be late seventies, maybe early 80's?

I wonder if he's still kickin?

Id like to make him a knife!

Since a Rambo prequel was just announced, with a story revolving around him in Vietnam...we shall see....
I wouldn’t expect much from this. Making a Rambo prequel would be exceedingly hard. The Vietnam war is real history and the larger than life characters would have to be inserted into that conflict. Rambo and Trautman would both need to be in it, and a cameo from Teasle would be fun. Unlike in the Star Wars prequels, Rambo would need to be associated with known units and battles, none of which would parallel what we know about John Rambo. Add to that, the lead star is not returning, and you end up with another Vietnam War b-movie flop.

Back to knives:
The Jet Pilot’s Survitamm knife would be another good practical knife.

Haha....If you held That knife you would know how Bad Ass it was....
Palm filling, thin bte, long guided blade meant for filleting to the bone. Tough steel, hard, and even stainless so blood won't stain.

I have no idea at all, especially just having heard about this new proposed film. But I would be surprised if they tried to plug it into Vietnam, there is going to be a massive disconnect with the younger generations, and they would also likely find many of the real themes involved "objectionable." They may just go for like a straight up action adventure setting that just happens to be in the Asian jungles or something. But who knows.
