Randall's Adventure & Training JUNGLA Backpack

Not gonna happen by December 25, sorry:) Tony hang onto the water bladder for now and appreciate the offer. Jeff has the proto type now so any bladders would go his way in Bama.

We haven't figured out about the warranty yet. Give us a little time to work that out and you all will be first to know....after the hooker that will be wearing it.:)

There are no metal or plastic stays in the pack. It has a stiff back panel and for the small size of this pack it'll work fine. Aside from a couple of small straps added to the high part of shoulder straps for MOLLE gear I don't think we will complicate it any more. When you start getting inside and realize other zippered pockets are inside as well as some retention straps inside to stabilize other gear you will appreciate us not adding any more to this piece of gear.

The LEO that worked on the design aspects was carrying a lot of tactical gear and technical gear into the field and treating it pretty rough. While he isn't exactly James Bond (this guy is much better looking) I don't think anyone will complain about his thinking on the details on this pack. This is how we as taxpayers reap the benefit of our tax dollars, ie, by getting a great design that has been tested extensively in a field of operations that would be very difficult for any of us to replicate without a lot of dollars:)

ANd Lucky Kitty, no worries about the skull patch on the pack. It will be a sewn on patch that you can easily remove by popping a few stitches if you need to. We thought about having the logo embroidered on but didn't just in case anyone wanted to remove the logo to be like James Bond and not be noticed:) Mike

It just concerns me that Mike thinks this agent is better looking than James Bond!

In all seriousness, these guys that use this pack do some pretty harsh stuff, from recon through swamps and jungle to taking down high value targets in the middle of nowhere. Pack has had a lot of testing. Read my February and March SWAT story to get a taste of what and who is behind this design.

you worried that mike is eyeing another man.....that he may not look at you the same as he did when ya'll first met....that the magic is gone....hahahah....I got to hear that shit from my wife once a month...anyone want to guess which week........

"It just concerns me that Mike thinks this agent is better looking than James Bond!"

But I am sure he would agree.:) But good looking or not he has a lot of integrity as does his work partner there. I could not do the job those guys do and stay out of trouble. My hat is off to them.

My initial thought after seeing the pack was "More MOLLE!" on the front. There are some things you just want to grab quickly without opening up the whole pack, or things someone else can grab while you've still got the pack on...small pouches that can be attached to the back of the pack fill that role well.

Having the skull and knives logo easily removable is nice also...

I was thinking the samething about the MOLLE, but wasn't for sure yet.

As someone who owns a fair degree of tactical/tacticool gear and is acquainted with some local makers and designers here (catering to the military and Airsoft crowd), there are 3 features which I like about this pack:

1. The shoulder straps, and not just the belt, are both stowable. Well-thought out as in the airport snag scenario previously mentioned.
2. Just the "right size" indeed. Yes, it may not carry every single piece of kit needed at around 1500 c.u., but it really does force you to really evaluate the bits you actually need to carry.
3. No MOLLE/PALS overkill. Honestly, for years I've often scratched my head about certain makers designs that take the modularity thing way too far, to the point of diminishing returns. While it may indeed be functional in some EDC environments, out here in the harsh tropical jungle moving thru water, rough terrain, dense vegetation etc. sometimes you just need one, simple, self-contained design. It just going back to the KISS principle.

oohhh... that looks like a great looking pack... i would love to check one of these out....:)

i have been building a family oriented B.O.B. based around a Tactical Tailor 3-day pack... this one looks like it has a much better design.. nice job guys..

You do bring up a good point. Instead of MORE MOLLE like I said earlier..maybe just move the existing MOLLE section up just below the middle of the front pocket instead of at the very bottom and add another row to it for those longer pouches.

Looks like a great pack that I could use to transfer gear from vehicle to vehicle, whichever one I'm in.

Tools, first aid kit, H20, Food, etc...

Love the direction RAT is going. I'll be along the ride with you guys.

I can't tell for sure from the photos, but it looks as though the hip belt may be padded. Can Mike or Jeff confirm that?

Yes, the belt is padded. However, most of the guys carrying this pack and similar ones never use the waist belt since it interferes with other gear. They latch the belt behind the pack. I noticed this on a lot of the Junglas we worked with down in Colombia. Will try to post a pic of this.

Note the waist strap buckled behind the pack:
