Randall's Adventure & Training JUNGLA Backpack

You all had to go and do it. I was trying to decide on a new pack to purchase, and now this. I am going to compare this pack with the other I am thinking of purchasing and see which will fit my needs better.

At least when I decide I know that the pack I have chosen will be the one that fits my needs the best.

I just noticed Lucky kitty's thing about zippers being too loud for hunters. It is a trade off and I am not sure you'd be better off with someting like a cord-tied top loader where you would have to dig around a lot more to get what you want out of the bag and cause just as much if not more noise than a zipper. Bottom line here is no bag out there is going to please everybody for every purpose. One person's hunting pack may not be considered by the next for the same purpose because of preference. We are trying to hit a good general duty, hard use bag that will apeal to most users doing 3 day to two week outings. If we can hit part of the market on Mil and LEO ops then that is frosting on the cake. Considering the origin of the bag and it's designer I think we have a good shot at part of that market also. We will see how the first 100 or so bags go then listen to any input from users in the field and make any adjustments (if any) afterwards. Mike

Also zippers can be opened pretty quietly by just placing a finger along the zipper teeth right in front of the "closing end" of the zipper. :)

"Man...you see that buck? I got to open my pack before I shoot it." :D

You don't need no damned stuff out of the pack, shoot!

Question for Jeff or anyone else who spends time in jungles; do you normally carry your machete on your pack when you're not using it?

Looks nice. I have a hard time ordering packs of this type without having one in hand. I wanna see the layout in person but im interested. I want a better pack for next deployment.

Ever thought about getting the SERE logo made into the rear of the pack where your back goes? or in that open spot on the rear?

The same hunter that told me that was hunting on Saturday. Driving hunt - and I don't see any issue with a bags noise there.

Dunno what that thing about the hunting bags is ... it was a hunter who told me, and several others said the same.

It's either in my hand, stuck in the ground beside a tree, or in the bottom of the boat. We don't need no stinkin' machete sheaths! :D

Personally I make use of a sheath, but it's either going to be strapped to the side of a pack or just used as a protective sleeve most of the time. Long blades only get belt time if I have no other options (like when folks might be around to freak out about it and I don't have a pack on). But then I'm in a VERY different neck of the woods! :D

This pack looks awesome, I wish that I would have had it when I went to Nicaragua a few years ago. You can count me in for one when they are available.

personally a machete sheath built into or attached to the upper back of pack
over shoulder reach and its in hand and in motion just like that

I know this is a proto, but some things to consider (if I may be so bold)

1) Yellow interior makes it easier to see inside
2) Make smaller gear bags specifically to fit inside the bag (clothing, mess kit, etc) to aid in organizing the interior
3) Waterproof. Nuff said.

Other than that, it looks good.

Saw Jeff's article about his time with the drug busters in December's SWAT (Might have been TK, dont remember. One magazine had a HEST review, and the other was Jeff's article about a Surefire knife). Anyways, saw a couple of the guys wearing the backpack this is styled after!
