@CUTS LIKE A KRIS

another one who can't go camping w/out a few kilos of sharpened steel

but what's that huge axe?

Love the pics, does anyone else think the 2nd from bottom looks a bit like those "When you see it you'll s@£t bricks''.

Nephil- its my baby is what it is. Its a 10.5" broad axe that does all of my dirty work. I love that thing- and I am about to try to give it a new handle- I'll post pics here when I do. As far as the kilo's of steel- this was my first trip outdoors after breaking both of my legs and had a few new toys that needed breaking in!

Royal- that pic actually was in Blade magazine for the Knife I Carry (July 07 I believe). It is the last picture from our childhood lake lot, taken just after my Mom sold it in 06.

"Hurricane" Knives - not sure which it will be yet but these are this years contenders for an EDC fixed blade for if / when the power goes out...

The wood / cammo handle is a Bark River 7" Vagabond Bowie I had rehandled recently. The knife originally had a push tang but the person I had do the handle job welded a bolt to the push tang & it goes all the way thru the walnut handle now (originally it had micarta that was too large for me). It is wrapped with 'vet wrap' for grip. Anyway, it is quite light and quite tough - maybe the top contender this year...

Another favorite is the Junglee SF knife. A bit small but takes & holds a wicked edge. Plus I love the handle ergonomics. ...So many choices LOL.

great pics guys...

i guess i'll play... here's a few of mine.. which i'm sure you guys have all seen..

Im not sure about the bayonet, I had recived it from a friend of mine in the army, as far as he knew it was cerimonial, but it takes a great edge and holds it, Its retention is better than the stainless steel in Grohmann knives, its %100 scandi ground now and works ok.

Yeah, the trail hawk is tiny in comparison, the riflemans hawk was nice, but I allways found the head too havey for the hawk style handle.
You are basically confirming what i suspected about the Rifleman's hawk.
I love the look of it and i almost bought one instead of the Trailhawk.
But then i looked at the weight listed and went with the Trailhawk.
I'm just finishing modding my Trailhawk, i'll have to post some pics soon!

Been really tempted to special order one of those Grohmann Large Skinners in flat ground carbon steel.
I've been on a carbon steel kick lately!

I'm going on a knife buying sabbatical soon, i'm currently choosing my 3 last pre-sabbatical purchases. I know for sure i'm going to get A Buck Vantage Pro S30V, the other two choices are up in the air.
The pics in this thread are giving me ideas though!
:D

some of these pics are from a previous thread. the only one I don't have pics of is the Mora Triflex that I use the hell out of.
So..enjoy..or puke...or whatever...
