All this talk about ECAM almost certainly being Westinghouse and also remembering that there was paper micarta scales for the FK2 that came out of a Westinghouse switchgear has me remembering that, back in the day, there was a "set" of CPKs scaled with material all from the same single block of verified Westinghouse micarta. I haven't seen a picture of those in quite a while.

The devil on my left shoulder "Wail on them like they were intended".......the angel on my right shoulder "Pass them along before you do bad things to them"........

That's because their current owner and custodian is a baboon who doesn't know how to operate a very simple smartphone camera!

Antique micarta is perfect on a user. That's what I have on my behemoth, I love it. It's probably the most durable material we offer, they just don't make it like they used to. It tolerates rough use and ages very well, you have nothing to worry about.

Lol

The antique micarta is quite expensive. The standard offerings are high quality American made materials that will last a lifetime. No reason to spring for the Westinghouse, the Acculam is very good stuff. I just wouldn't want folks to stay away from the antique material out of concern for its durability on a user. It'll hold up indefinitely.
K I'm sold...I am in for aecm 😁

Now satin or stonewash is my decision amongst the plethora of other options i've sorted

I'm on the factory edge (which was terrible)

Cruwear is fantastic on the bitey edge it takes and holds , MagnaCut (factory edge) has done well but not what I expected.... I only have D3v in a thick edge but that has honestly surprised me in the edge it will take and hold

I cut paper (in between printer and phone book paper in thickness) thin plastic sheeting, cardboard, zip ties, half inch round adhesive foam , masking tape, through my day and didn't get the grab and slice I wanted

I'll re sharpen and see if there is a difference (this mule has a poo grind with a slight recurve behind the tip... that might be the problem)

Missed out on the recent mule, but Nathan's ∆3v and Spyderco's cruwear have treated me very well.
D3V really had surprised me , I was an elmax fan when a lot of people did not like it for some reason, but D3V is tougher and I swear it takes just as good of an edge and holds it longer (if not better), also I have not had any real life issues with corrosion in D3V

Wish I had something similar to a mule in D3V to run an honest head to head

I think from my tiny experience magnacut will be freaking awesome in the kitchen though

I'll run the Mule through my sharpmaker at work (I like easy touch ups while working) and see what happens

The grind is bad , hard to get a pic of where it is a recurve right behind the tip, if I have time I'll re sharpen tomorrow, I expect better results at

If you haven’t made it over to the Spyderco forum, you may want to and let Sal know. I think I have seen a few other posts recently about the new mule. That’s all hearsay though and not trying to stir the pot.

Thank you ! I'm not worried about the grind though I bought it to use so it'll be run across diamond stones plenty lol

I put lateral force cutting zip ties (the only way I can think to test toughness on an edge in my use) and I didn't chip or deform which did suprise me
