Thanks for your answer

what I meant is what goes into the production of them?

How much of ''thing a'' needs to be mined for ''thing b'' to be harvested to make this or that portion of the battery.
Haha. That too. Yes I’m sure there is a lot involved. I know they are lead acid batteries. And encased in plastic of course. I got quoted 10k$ for a new set of lithium ones a week ago that are supposed to be longer lasting.

They will never pump the last barrel of oil out of the ground, it'll just get too expensive to burn it. It's a useful raw material, it does seem silly just to burn it as a fuel. Settlers cut all their trees down to burn the wood for heat and then didn't have any building materials. Same thing. We're always going to want petroleum for plastics and petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and paint etc. But I do see the days of putting it in your fuel tank and burning it coming to an end. Which will be good. Because there's a bunch of people in this world that don't particularly love America and a lot of them are the ones who control the petroleum. Screw them. I'd like to see them try and eat sand.

It always struck me odd the coal rolling American Patriots driving around in their gas guzzlers talking about how red-blooded Americans won't drive electric cars, it's somehow un American. To me, telling OPEC to go screw themselves doesn't seem particularly unpatriotic to me.

Electric vehicles are clearly the future. As volumes increase, battery refurbishment/recycling will become a thing. I think there will be certain roles for diesel and gas powered vehicles for some time to come, particularly when it comes to trucks. But I personally do not expect ever to buy another new vehicle which burns gas or diesel.

Just pondering the rash of ads on the Exhange from new "members" (who smell like "dealers") who are listing their stuff at EB/AZK price levels, who have apparently fled those sites in order to avoid the fees there as well as the new 1099 reporting requirements.

Not a pleasant "change" in the Exchange IMO. :(

What is an EB/AZK?

doesn't need to be spherical for your statement to be true.

Were all ''topside''
This is why I like Timmy. Even when he's wrong he's right. While I would not want him as my life coach, he makes a pretty good spirit animal?

And, I should clarify. I'm a red-blooded American driving around in a coll rolling gas guzzler. I'm not proud of it, that's just what it is. People choose to get proud about the strangest shit. But I for one, I encourage you to all drive that Prius. That would suit me just fine. The EV hate mystifies me. I'm against legislating it, but why can't people appreciate those who do it without legislation? Or at least hate less? Why all the hate?

According to my hero and roll model, it all starts with FEAR.

I don't mind EV

But I think things can be done better in them, what happens to bad batteries, are they disposed or rebuilt

I run e85 almost always in my truck and have never had a problem... I think with technology there should be better sources of fuel/ power out there

I think putting ethanol into gasoline has turned out to be one of the biggest scams that the government has forced upon us. I agree that it made sense to try it, and it was going to take a little while to scale up if it was ever going to work, but when it was clearly not a good idea, why do we keep doing it?

You know why.

I thought I did! I thought, how clever, even though the stated reasons don't work, it's actually smart! It's clever! They're doing it to incentivize mass production of a crop that, during times of war or shortages we can stop this nonsense and there will be surplus food for us! Except now there's actually war in Europe and there are shortages. Why don't we stop? Oh, it was never about that...

A lot of guys around here run e85 in their built cars, especially boosted ones

Look at an electoral map and ask yourself how many of those electoral votes are in states with lots of butt-rich corn farmers feasting on all that ethanol cash. Or just realize that Iowa holds the first Presidential caucuses every time out, and then imagine a candidate going there to campaign and not pledging to keep the ethanol mandates.

That is not politics - certainly not partisan politics. It is just plain ol' American civics.
