Initially when I received it, I had thought (
alongside with the Gent who decided to part away with it to my favor) that the original owner whoever he was, had done the hand rub effect (
what we commonly refer to as satin in here) but since I'm currently taking a home study course in Nathan's past work, I have come to the conclusion that what I have gotten may very well be one of the earlier Shivs which Nathan was not tumbling at the time, although I have gotten it with a BB index sheath as opposed to the more generic Spec-Ops sheaths that the very early ones used to come with. To me, the "satin" effect on the Shiv is not as exquisite as the one on my UF, but that may very well be because one of the past owners tried to hand rub it further. Certainly because of the fuller on the Shiv as opposed to no fullers on the UF, the hand rubbed Shivs may not show the same level of satin finishes that the UFs were so loved for. However if you decide to send yours out and have more man-hour spent on it, you will probably get back the most satinish finished Shiv
