Yes, I was just referring to the fact that the core electrons in heavier elements like lead and gold have energies whose associated velocity is a good fraction of the speed of light (around 60 percent). This leads to relativistic effects, such as the color of gold.

That's one of the crazy things about this thread. It's a wild mismatch of machinists and PhD scholars with a mix of folks who work at Walmart and folks who are directors of engineering. It's really pretty cool the mix of folks we get in here, I like it a lot. All different viewpoints. Although it's a bit of a minefield if you're not familiar with the folks and you're not sure which one makes knives in their garage and which ones have an advanced degree in the topic of discussion.

For example. A little known fact about me. Not only do I know how to make knives, I'm also a machinist, and I can spread pizza dough without putting holes in it.

Yes, you are right, I do make knives in my garage.
