Making the best of the aftermath in Orlando. Video from family there…

Amusing as that looks, one thing people like that don't consider/care about, is how it affects anyone else.

Note how close the water level is to the bottoms of the doors lining the street. The waves created by driving through the water at speed, can end up pushing water into places that managed to narrowly escape water intrusion from the flooding (or push more water into places that have only just begun draining).

I've actually gotten to see this in person in a place with poor drainage from heavy rains. Water would pool on the road up to the end of the driveway if there was a LOT of rainfall, but since the driveway was sloped, it didn't enter the garage... until some asshat in a truck blasted through the standing water, sending a wave right up the driveway and into the garage.

A wipeout would be interesting. Road rash from wakeboarding accident. Fun
As far as that goes, the water is deep enough to prevent that.

One of the camping trips we went on in the Boy Scouts, we were camped right by a stream for 5 days. We ended up using rocks to dam the stream (which we took apart before we left), so the water was about shin deep (maybe knee deep at the deepest parts), and took to having a daily 'touch football' game in the water.

When we discovered that being tackled and falling in shin deep water didn't really hurt (no dogpiling), it rapidly became a little more than 'touch football' 😂

“Surprisingly little love for the Field Knives.”

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist just wanted to say in response to your mention above…

At least in my case, and I would think many others as well, that one has been offered in abundance relatively recently. It’s the model I personally have the most copies of, so least needed in terms of a re-release. It’s one of my favorites ever and was the gateway drug here.

The chance to get some of the unobtanium models is what dominated your top 4 poll. Even if it was a “list your top 4 favorite CPK models” poll…ugh. That’s really hard to do without some use context.

A Grail? We've already got one!
I hesitate calling anything a grail until it's proven to be just that. (I have a handful of knives by makers I admire which could each be considered a grail, but that would sort of make the term meaningless, or render it temporary.)

And your joy at my expense is offensive and off-putting...and very, very hurtful. 🤣
