I can't remember if I ever told you the story of the older gentleman that my partner and I had to visit with in NYC because he was assaulting federal employees outside of their office building.
He explained to me that it was a conspiracy by the government wherein when he went to the store, the prices were always marked up just as he was ready to grab an item, his rent was jacked up, and how he was being followed and observed by government overlords, even through the walls of his apartment and TV set... etc etc.
Since he really appeared to be the genuine "Baker Act" article, I explained to him that if he lined a cap with foil, it would keep the government agency from being able to penetrate his deepest thoughts...and if he promised to stop assaulting the government employees, I'd call off the mind control units at the CIA. He wept and agreed.
He called me some months or a year later to thank me and told me that he was grateful I had kept my promise. (Though he did go back to assaulting the employees a couple years later.)
True story.
Now, in hindsight all these years later, I realize he was right all along and I owe him an apology.![]()
