Here’s the question of the day,

Why is it that when someone passed away with a sizable estate everyone involved becomes complete and utter idiots. Family ties go out the window and in the end it’s all about what someone gets over someone else. I’m ready to just walk away and gather up what’s left of my morality and sanity.

Ever see two (fat and well-fed) dogs from the same "pack" fight and scrabble over a small scrap of food? It's terrible isn't it.

Well, broke my collarbone this week in a wee dirt bike accident.

Now, after visiting the fracture clinic, turns out I require surgery where they’ll install a plate to keep the collarbone together (it broke in 4 sections). This is scheduled for Monday.

Anyone have experience with this?
That doesn’t sound like a little accident. I broke mine twice two different crashes on the bikes no problem but also no surgery

From what I have heard from friends and family who have had to manage estates after a death, it truly does become an utter shit show - everyone ends up showing their true colors. Sorry to hear you're going through that, I wouldn't wish executorship on anyone ☹️

Sorry to hear it, Ted. Hope all's well otherwise.

That is a bad break- must have been a pretty hard contact to fracture in 3 places. Healing will be pretty quick but will not be fun in an immobilizer for a while. I hope it is your non-dominant side.

Well, it was kind of silly. Was trying to make it up a steep slope, the rear tire spun on a wet tree root, when it did connect with the dirt and regained traction it brought the front wheel up and tossed me down the hill.

Glad to hear yours presented no issues for you.

No, that’s not going to be fun.

Unfortunately, it’s my right shoulder. Though, I am left handed, I only write with it. Everything else I do with my right hand. 🤬

I am not being a wise-guy, but little things like wiping after a poop will be difficult. Taking deep breaths to keep your lungs clear will be important (some people develop atelectasis from not taking deep breaths due to pain). Try not to twist when getting up- keep yourself aligned when possible. Follow your ortho instructions and don’t be a hard ass about taking pain medications if you need them. You might ask about a muscle relaxant like tizanadine to help at night so you can sleep a little easier. I prefer it to Flexeril as it can be titrated easily and tends to not cause a hungover feeling in the morning. Stay hydrated and don’t get constipated- straining increases thoracic pressure which will cause more pain.
Best wishes with surgery-you should heal up well.

Man, that's a pretty bad break for going over backwards (if I understood that correctly).

Saw a gal get a similar break (3 places, 4 sections). 2 slim gals supposedly 'play wrestling' and one of them slams the other one (while both were kneeling 😮).

The slammee gets up looking pretty pale and pulls the collar of her t-shirt aside, and DAAAAAAMN... your collarbone looks like Zeus's lightning bolt. That's not good. 😬

No idea how she turned out. Didn't see her again after that. We nicknamed the other gal 'Bonecrusher' (tall, ~5'9" - 5'10", slim 110 - 115lbs, but sure as heck snapped the other chick's collarbone).

Thanks very much for this information. I’ll be sure to keep this in mind. 👍

I must’ve landed almost square onto my right shoulder, based on the lack of bruising or scratches anywhere else.

When the front wheel come up, I held on like an idiot and the bike and I went tumbling down the hill to the right of the trail we were on.

The break you describe that girl to have sounds terrible. 😬
