But neither do they… so it’s ok. And I should have specified “demeaning.”
Oh, I took your meaning...

What I wondered was if you meant demeaning to the "game" or the "criminals" (or "enemy", as appropriate)? (I have more respect for the former.)

Your honor, my client can't be guilty, he she it they are gender felony fluid!

That probably got the blood pumping!
We flew with Bahamian police alongside our own agents so we'd have jurisdiction within their islands as well as here stateside if we forced an aircraft or boat to land or go to shore.

Outside of those ops, we only flew on the Blackhawks to be shuttled to locations to do entries and such...whether out in the Everglades or in a location not quickly reached from our base of operations in Miami. (Our air wing was located at Homestead AFB.)

I loved flying with those crazy mf'ers.

Well, broke my collarbone this week in a wee dirt bike accident.

Now, after visiting the fracture clinic, turns out I require surgery where they’ll install a plate to keep the collarbone together (it broke in 4 sections). This is scheduled for Monday.

Anyone have experience with this?

Had a friend do something similar on his mountain bike. Missed a jump and went over the handlebars. Took a while but he recovered fine and is still riding.

I took an extended flight over the bars about 6 years ago, and somehow dislocated my collarbone (among other things - broken arm, etc). The orthopede said that's only the 2nd dislocated collarbone he's seen in 30 years of practicing medicine, since collarbones are basically designed to break, not dislocate. I now have a bone that sticks out of my chest at an odd angle. Sometimes I wish I had broken it instead - at least then they could have set it more or less back in its proper place.

How's the pain level? Mine was painful AF.

Wow, I’ve not heard of a dislocated collarbone. As you said, they’re much more apt to break.

Mine is very, very sore. Seems there’s just no comfortable position to put myself in. I’m not one for painkillers, and refused them at the ER, but changed my tune at the fracture clinic as I simply can’t get any rest with this constant throbbing. They prescribed me Percocet and they help a bit by JUST taking the edge off.

This happened to a buddy of mine a few years back. He took a mini dirt bike for a spin around another friend's acreage. I watched him take a turn and he went flying - he popped back up immediately throwing his hand up to let us know he was good but then he just stood there. Turns out he couldn't move his other arm without terrible pain.

Took him to the hospital where they discovered he had shattered his collarbone and would require surgery to put it all back together. He is good to go these days but I remember that his pain level was pretty high for awhile.

Hoping for the quickest of recoveries for you and that the pain is manageable.

Yeah, I'm with you - I hate taking painkillers but I had to keep on the Percs for a while until it calmed down. It was the only way I could sleep.

Hope you're able to get pieced back together quickly and on the road to recovery. 👊

Broke my collarbone in a motorcycle accident years ago. A truck cut me off across a red light for him - he turning left, me going straight at an intersection. I flew over his truck bed.

Anyways, clean break, no surgery, wore the arm in a sling for a while. Dr said I shouldn’t worry, some people don’t even have collarbones.

I remember that it was painful to put socks on.

Hope your surgery goes well, get better soon !

I probably worked in the shop that makes the screws and plate even that they'll be using.
all that stuff is VERY high quality. Do you know what material the screws and plate are made of?

my guess is the screws will be a material that will end up essentially turning to bone and the plate titanium.

good luck
