To the young guys out there, do not take that advice because if something bad happens to her, her dad will hold you accountable. Take her home or where you picked her up. Never leave a woman stranded.
Regardless of what her dad thinks. (Or doesn't.) Good advice, Robert. I think Timmy was making a point, not a policy statement. I don't doubt he'd assess the situation and make the right call.

My Ex got fired from her job one year and moved to East Texas to be closer to her Mom. She moved to a tiny town where she knew nobody and, in her loneliness, got close to some ass-clown who used his sociopathic ways to charm her. She eventually went all-in and married that loser.

Anyhow, she was having trouble with an older car that her Mom gave her for transportation. So, since they worked at the same place, her SO began driving her to work. One night, after picking her up from work, he got upset with her and told her to get out of the car. He left her on a rural County Road about five miles outside of town, and about seven miles from her house.

She was like a Daughter to my Father (*RIP), and it weighed pretty heavily on my Dad when I told him the story.

About a month later, I was going up to visit her for one of the holidays. My Dad insisted that I take his truck. When I arrived at his house, I realized why. There, parked along the curb, was his truck and a U-haul car hauler with a three-year-old Chevy Equinox on it. He'd bought her a car. 😯

He told me that he wanted to make sure that she wouldn't have to rely on anyone to get home safely.

my point was that she would hopefully have the oh sh1t moment and at least realize being courteous isnt a bad thing.

I think looking back I'll be teaching my children to handle dating a completely different way than I did. Considering no one taught me anything and I was essentially a flag in the wind.

I agree that some people need to experience that "oh sh1t" experience, but it wouldn't have been as a result of me leaving them.

I was sure this story was heading towards a different ending.
