Maybe a coating to make the nails go in easier. No they're not brass. I don't know why they're colored like that
Fake magnet
Oh. Then I would've expected more of a brown color than brass/gold...That coating is BS. Those nails still rust over here![]()

Bingo.Maybe a coating to make the nails go in easier.
you can hardly tell that the chain was lead
That's pretty amazing. Do you have a Ī3V comparison?
Once you've dialed it completely in I'm curious how different your heart test from Larrin's recommended protocol. I'm also interested the difference in real world performance from baseline, as well as differences in secondary attributes (primarily corrosion resistance since I'm in HI).We're about there folks.
And that, is precisely what drew me to CPK, and why I stayed.Truly amazing to see Nathanās HT creation compared to those first chipped blades he showed not long ago. It is so appreciated that someone would go through such tedious, frustrating, time consuming, and costly testing in order to make a product better than most folks would ever need it to be. Very cool.
Yup. Personally, I'd rather pay CPK prices for performance than paying the same for a bunch of lipstick on what is an otherwise mediocre knife. And that, is precisely what drew me to CPK, and why I stayed.
There are folks who focus on aesthetics (nothing wrong with that), or other particular facets, but CPK really emphasize their focus on every aspect of the 'Performance' of Carothers Performance Knives, and after looking around quite a bit, there really aren't any other manufacturers that put so much focus and detail on Performance, and especially at CPK's pricepoints.
Some folks think that knives in the CPK price range are 'expensive', especially when they don't come in fancy damascus patterns (that don't do anything for performance), and fancy handles (that also don't areally add any benefits in the performance department), and their $XX is "good enough".
To each their own, but especially when it comes to pushing a knife to the limits, I like the fact that Nate's already done that in testing, beyond what most of us ever will, and for at the limit or approaching the limit performance, there's really no one else providing the value CPK does.
Terrible, just terribleThe performance is nice, it's just too bad they look like trash. Look at this eyesore.
