Encoder Magic?

"Absolute" encoders with battery backup. It can tell if the machine has moved even if it is turned off.

I would have sworn it would have still needed hard switches for over travel and possibly homing the machine if it was ever necessary. Nope.

Also a customer dropped off a letter in the night drop box at work... her caravan was hit in the rear and she was happy with the repairs ..... but noticed a noise in the front of her van when doing doughnuts to the right.........

I.... would love to watch her perform this test

Hahaha

Batching’ it this week, ELVIRA HAS LEFT THE BUILDING ! My beautiful wifey and a bunch of crazy gals are flyin’ to New York. I suppose I’ll cut back on OT, beat on my CPKs, and do what ol’ George Thorougood would do….

I didn't. I put all the enclosure back on and the problem went away. Which pisses me off.

Ever feel unmitigated and irrational rage?
Used to build/wire/integrate electrical enclosures and do light maintenance on “stuff”. Cables and connectors/connections can make you chase your tale and thats just a little part.
A little amount of friction on a ball screw can add just enough drag to cause a drive to fault/time out.
I liked it when I could troubleshoot and figure it out, not so much when I couldn’t.
