Random Thought Thread

Gotta love technology. I sign into my gov't healthcare site this morning with the intention of changing out the password in an abundance of caution following the latest LastPass debacle. (I am no longer with them, but that doesn't change the issue with archived vaults which were stolen.)

So, I log in, get the security code, enter it and get admitted to the site. Put in the old password, new password, new password again to confirm and the system confirms the change.

Log out...attempt to log in...no joy. Try again. Same result. Try the old password and it's not recognized either. WTF?

So, of course it's a holiday so I have to wait until tomorrow to get it reset as the automated request comes back telling me via email that I need an admin to make a change.

Glad I didn't need to log in to conduct business.

I guess I should've just changed it to "password".

Try in a couple of hours or tonight again. Sometimes takes a while to propagate pwd changes in a large network in particular if some servers are down.

Good idea, Roland...I wondered about that but it's been a few hours now and I just tested again. If it doesn't log in by tomorrow morning, I'll call their tech folks.

I think yoko yoko nailed it. No good deed goes unpunished. LOL.

1 more thought Blues Blues , clear your browser history for the last 24 hours (or to the time of your password reset), sometimes there is some saved cookie that interferes with it. It’s an easy fix to at least try out yourself vs waiting to call them tomorrow.

I had already cleared it. I'm in the habit of doing so. But thanks for trying to find a solution, I appreciate it.

It'll get done one way or another. Probably after hanging on hold for five hours or so.

Nissan CVT transmission fluid smells exactly like gear oil

I hate the smell of gear oil
Hate CVTs. Don't mind the concept, but seems like the execution is lacking. They can't handle power without being tuned for economy instead of performance. Will no longer consider Subaru due to it. The 06 Legacy GT I had (with AT) would blow a 23 Legacy Sport away, so how is that "sport"?

these actually work for minor stuff. not sure about a full power k20 slice though. if they're kevlar like the ones I used to be issued they protect from burns too. I worked at a foundry years and years ago. We were required to wear these as part of our work uniform.

I saved my arms quite the beating. I wish I would have saved the ones that I threw out to be honest.

My WTF? moment was actually a reaction to that marketing photo as opposed to the usefulness of the actual product or its concept. That said, I have also found something useless for Nathan who keeps misplacing/losing his tool-bits:

I wonder if you could convince some dimwit to put that thing on and reach into a box of unsheathed knives?

Sorry, that's a terrible, awful, mean-spirited thought....that I'm quite proud of. 🤣

RIP, GIna! Gina Lollabridgida Dies At 95. 😢

Along w/Bridgette Bardot & Sophia Loren, an iconic sex symbol for most of us Boomers, when we were still too young to know hat sex vs love was really all about.
