Random Thought Thread

No luck. Gonna wait until the morning...if I can't get in, it'll be the phone waiting game.
I’m locked out of one of my supply house accounts. After entering my password it says I’m wrong. After three times it asks if I want to reset. So I get the reset email, go to the website and reset my password. Then it has me log in on the website. No problems. Go back to the app it says my password is wrong. After entering my password three times… well, you get it. Went through that three times and it still doesn’t work on the app. I can only log in to the main website.
Ultimately, it just means I’m buying supplies elsewhere.
But what a pain in the ass.

Sometimes, when Cap’n Smudge Cap’n Smudge posts and I see his name next to a thread, it looks like Cap’n Snuggles.
I need glasses
🤓
If I had a 1970's-era van, I'd airbrush "Cap'n Snuggles" on the side of it in big letters.

I wonder if you could convince some dimwit to put that thing on and reach into a box of unsheathed knives?

Sorry, that's a terrible, awful, mean-spirited thought....that I'm quite proud of. 🤣
Dimwit alert- 2 weeks back I had misplaced my passport. Forgot that my CPK dagger did not have a sheath and reached into the drawer. Got away with a small nick...nothing new under the sun

almost like they want people to beg for biometric verification.

Yikes - glad it wasn't worse! And I'm really glad you weren't wearing that magnetic bracelet. 😂

Hate CVTs. Don't mind the concept, but seems like the execution is lacking. They can't handle power without being tuned for economy instead of performance. Will no longer consider Subaru due to it. The 06 Legacy GT I had (with AT) would blow a 23 Legacy Sport away, so how is that "sport"?
Our 2015 Forester XT turbo seems to do pretty well with the CVT, but manual shifts (fake gears) are slow, and it wont launch quickly without torque braking to build boost. Our 2021 Subaru Ascent turbo with CVT does a good job too, and it launches from a stop much better, but it fakes gears all the time, instead of only when in sport or sport sharp mode.

I'm sure they're perfectly adequate in certain applications (haven't heard great things about long term reliability though), and maybe they'll get there eventually, but in the meantime don't try to market it as "sporty" or "performance". In the case of Subaru, what I loved about the Legacy GT I had was that it was basically a 4-door WRX. Was never into the rally car vibe of the WRX, but couldn't argue with the performance. Now the Legacy is just another neutered family sedan.

I had a 05 Legacy GT 5 speed. That was a fun and reliable little car. I thought I was doing a good deed and sold it to my wife’s younger brother for a heck of a price, he blew up the engine 2 months later. 😔

Yeah, I have the 2017 WRX LTD 6-speed. It's a very different animal vs my old Forester XT turbo with CVT that my son Drives.

You do have to get the turbo models like Onyx XT in a Legacy to enjoy the power, but the current sport models only upgrade the suspension (my daughter has the 2.0L Impreza Sport, and it's a go-cart with little power at 5000 feet elevation). Legacy GT is a great car, and in the early days it was faster around a race track than a Mustang.

I had a 2000 Impreza 2.5RS that I installed aftermarket turbo kit, and moved to a WRX STi in 2004. Then a 2006 Tribeca > 2008 Infini G35x AWD 300+ hp, then a 2015 Forester XT turbo that my son now drives. I keep coming back to Subaru, as long as it's boosted or 6-cylinders.

WHY DID I SAY BACK ON TOPIC IF THIS IS RANDOM THOUGHT THREAD? I'LL Post this elsewhere >>> Back on topic, todays carry is my new Shirogorov Neon NL, beatemup Benchmade Shootout, and Xmas Victorinox SAK.

Sister had the same car, which is one reason I got the 06. She gave it to her son and he promptly destroyed it...literally burned to the ground.

Kids these days 😵

My 25 year old son has been driving the Forester XT for 6 years now, and he bought it from me 3 months ago. It's in as good of shape now as it was when I handed it down to him in Nov 2016. Just gotta raise them right 😂
