Random Thought Thread

I wouldn't mind scooping up a Military at some point. I enjoy the Para 2 and the Para 3 - no issues with the lock. I just have to reacclimate to a knife and its lock if I switch things up on occasion.

I've been carrying this Shark Lock for the last few days. Super slick once you get the hang of it.

I have issues with a super mod constantly shit posting. I have issues with a super mod calling Nathan in the middle of moving machinery to discuss forum rules and annoy him into allowing you to lock the exchange thread we have been using for years. It’s not personal, Elliot. For me. But chastising me personally as an “officer of the court” to invoke “rule of law” in a knife forum? Please. You’ve just confirmed that you’re in here playing cops and robbers. On a knife forum. Rule of law. Gimme a break. But no, it’s not personal. I’m reacting to what you’re doing. Not who you are. So do what you wish. You’re the one with all the power here.

Whoa Eric! Easy bro!

When I started the "buy sell trade" thread here on my forum I was probably wandering a little bit outside of the scope of what my forum is allowed to have on it, but the owner of this site has been consistently cool and chill about my antics here. But the fact of the matter is, we are conducting commerce outside of the commerce areas of Bladeforums.

There are people that are inadvertently violating the Bladeforums rules and posting without the proper membership levels and there is no automated mechanism to stop them, which is piling up some preventable workload on the volunteers who help keep this place running smoothly.

As I see it, the right thing to do is to have a "buy sell trade thread on my forum here that links to posts in the commerce areas of Bladeforms where the forum software can automatically control the postings and flow where registered users can't post things for sale and trade.

Elliot didn't call me, I called him. He texted me about an issue and I gave him a call and we had a concise conversation. I really appreciate his efforts around here and he is a pretty cool dude. His willingness to help me on my forum is greatly appreciated, because sometimes I get spread a little thin and having someone who can keep an eye on things (such as when I'm unavailable, like right now voice texting from a hotel room in, I think Ohio? Or maybe West Virginia? I don't know.) Our forum has a lot of traffic and having a super help me with it takes a load off of me personally, it helps keep this playground civil for everyone who wants to play, and in my view he is a very level-headed and fair-minded person who we should all make feel welcome despite his hall monitor status.

I think there has been a misunderstanding here. You, personally, are one of my all-time favorite forum members here and I consider you a personal friend. I think that perhaps you think that I was getting railroaded or having my forum changed without my consent and I appreciate your concern, but I think this has been a big misunderstanding. You guys need to kiss (in a really gross and inappropriate awkward way) and make up.

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist southern Ohio?

Did you get stuck in the snow?
Not yet. Although I just parked a gooseneck trailer in a very unconventional manner in a space that really doesn't have room for my truck and trailer.

Jo and I are heading up north of Dayton tomorrow and have to dismantle and disconnect a bunch of stuff on a Makino graphite mill I just won on auction. Dust collector, enormous spindle chiller, hydraulic unit. These machine tools are awesome. 30,000 RPM 40 taper machining center that reads out to five decimal points these seriously haul ass, these things rock in scales production. The riggers are coming in early Friday morning to load us and we're going to head back to Mooresville.

We insulated an old high cube shipping container and have loaded some of the auto grinders in there and have opened up some space in the lower building for another Makino. This is going to reduce our setups and get the first operations off of the Mitsubishi Moriseiki which will eliminate sump contamination issues when doing wood scales.

And there's something about Terotuf in a machine tool sump that quickly starts to smell like a dead homeless person. I'm looking forward to running that dry and blasting the fumes out into the beautiful wilderness with a giant dust collector.

No. Good Lord no. This is one of the smaller machines. It only has a 15 tool tool changer. I think it weighs just under 10,000 lb.

I like the graphite mills for scales production because they do not drip way oil or spindle lubricant onto the work. That's actually pretty uncommon. And they handle abrasive grit just fine. They are built to machine high precision graphite electrodes for electrical discharge machining for mold making. They do such a good job in Terotuf I actually had a complaint today that someone thought their TT scales were buffed. But they were actually just machined really super clean.

Right on man! Good luck tomorrow!
