We insulated an old high cube shipping container and have loaded some of the auto grinders in there and have opened up some space in the lower building for another Makino. This is going to reduce our setups and get the first operations off of the Mitsubishi Moriseiki which will eliminate sump contamination issues when doing wood scales.

And there's something about Terotuf in a machine tool sump that quickly starts to smell like a dead homeless person. I'm looking forward to running that dry and blasting the fumes out into the beautiful wilderness with a giant dust collector.

Just for you E:

A man said to the universe:

Sir, I exist!’
‘However,’ replied the universe,
‘The fact has not created in me
A sense of obligation.

– Stephen Crane...
This is a thought provoking quote, and all too true!

I read this while sitting and watching the Netflix series Our Universe, and am reminded this holds just as true for our planet as it does our race. Luckily, our biological creators DO feel some sense of obligation, or we’d all be F’d!! 🌎🤷🏻‍♂️

Speaking of space science oriented programs on Netflix, there is also one about Black Holes which is almost 2 hours long. Most of the stuff is well over my head and my edumacation level but when I watch these brilliant scientists, mathematicians, astrophysicists and cosmologists I am reminded of the paradox of our human race in general: in one hand we have a species which tends to kill, pillage and destroy almost everything around it and on the other hand I recall from somewhere that there are more stars in the universe than all the grains of sands in all the beaches on this Earth! Now extrapolate from that our Sun being one of those minuscule grains of sands, one hominid species living on a tiny blue planet, a subset of that grain of sand has managed very admirably to map out this VASTNESS of "Earthwide beaches" aka the Universe. Very very mind boggling, eh?!

I’m going to miss the buy and sell page… it was one of the most exciting pages in here! …and I get that you feel guilty about non gold members skirting the rules and don’t want to be that asshole who gets a free pass. And I’m guessing there’s no way to simply make it so non gold members can’t post, because if there is, that seems like an easy fix, and the forum owner, should be happy with it, as this will push more people to buy the membership. But if that’s not possible, then I get how posting links to sales is the next best thing.

I only bring this up because I do think that page helped the end goal here, which I believe is build a sense of community, with that page you can see who’s buying what, and who’s selling what, you can also get a sense of the history of the market, you can post your WTB ad for those obscure handle scales that would just get lost in the main WTB forum. But most important you can see what you just missed out on, keeping you in a constant state of fomo.

I never understood the love affair with the PM2 and compression lock. Now it’s time for the real questions, what the heck is wrong with you all? 😂
Certain knives just seem ‘right’ to me. I really like the PM2. It fits my hands well and I love the blade shape (I look forward to the slightly longer blade in the Mil2 for some tasks). I don’t like metal scales or frame locks for slipperiness and being cold in inclement weather. I also like how easy the PM is to clean out if I carelessly drop it in the snow or dirt. Honestly, I like Spyderco liner locks just fine as well as the back locks. I find the compression lock very secure and out of the way, yet manageable with gloves. My other favorite worker folders are liner locks, and I have 2 Endura’s in orange for winter chores. My wife likes the axis lock better than other ones. I prefer fixed blades most of the time but always have multiple folders with me. I would never tell someone that the compression lock is better than another, as we all have our preferences.

Shipping containers are 8' wide and 8.5' tall, so we could figure out Jo's height by how tall she is vs the height of the container. I don't have a ruler right here, so I'll leave that to someone else.
Well like old saying goes: It isn’t the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog! As the Venezuelans say Pequeno pero potente. 😀

You raise good points. If we can get our own sub over there, would that recreate it?
