Random Thought Thread

Anyone who has ever been up here can tell you that you see some questionable vehicles regarding safety and modifications. Today I saw a Ram quad cab with a slide in cab-over camper….the camper was in place with ratchet straps to the wheel wells! Nothing else! My camper is smaller and I torque down the 4 turnbuckle’s tight! Crazy

Not so random thought:

Is it unreasonable to expect delivery personnel to be able to CARRY items that weigh 50lbs or less?

Just watched a female deliver 2 A/V racks (flat packed. Assembly required), that weigh 43.6 lbs (packed weight) each, pushing/dragging the boxes up the driveway and path to the door. 😡

Quite a long while ago, I had a carbon fiber hood shipped straight to the shop the car was in. This hood was from a company in Japan, and at the time, I think there were 2, maybe 3 of these hoods in the entire US. The friggin CF hood weighs maybe 12lbs (whole reason I got it. Much lighter, and was designed with specifically placed vents to improve cooling).

The packaged weight in the large cardboard box was a little over 20lbs (but obviously the box was large).

This lazy asshat UPS delivery person grabbed the box off the truck, then DRAGGED the box on one corner, the entire way down the shop's driveway, grinding through the corner of the box and grinding off 1/2" of the corner of the hood! 🤬

Not like I could get it replaced inside of 6 months. The shop showed me the footage on their security cam. Took months for UPS to pay up on the damage claim.

I have so much more disposable income since I stopped buying knives a month ago. :)

Only problem is that all of it's now going to PGE to pay for my outrageous utility bill which was over $700 last month!

PS: I keep my thermostat at 68 degrees in winter and my house is really f*cking cold right now. I have to use space heaters to make up for it.

Granted, it's a 5bd 2900 sq ft house and there's been an extended cold spell in the SFBA but, until recently, my winter utitlity bills did not exceed $250.

BTW, I'm expecting this month bill to be even higher!
