To put a finer point on it, some insist that "Scandinavia" only refers to those countries which contain part of the Scandinavian mountains - Norway & Sweden. There is a tiny section of the mountain range that enters Finland at its very northern tip, but there are basically just low hills at that point, and no one cares.

"Nordic" is the more encompassing term for Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland.
Don't forget the Faroe Islands. (They'll go to war if you don't include them separately. LOL.)

Guess the only way to get your true DNA is through 23 and Me ~ Because there is always a good chance that even You're Parents and Grandparents never even asked themselves or Questioned their Heritage ~ or it could be some Family Secret ~ Never Know except what you're told ~ I have always been told Irish Cherokee Italian and my Dad always said who cares ~

There is some good Information on my Heritage in this book written by a cousin of mine ~ Luis Owens

I don't believe he's your cousin. You spelled his name "Luis" and he spells it "Louis". Well, is he Hispanic or French? Impostor!!! 🤣

Louis also is no longer around he took his own life one day he was battling depression of some sort not sure about the details, but yeah Committed Suicide, self inflected gun shot they said ~ He loved the outdoors and was a Smoke Jumper for a spell on some Forestry Crew ~ I never got to know him myself ~ until later in life when he dedicated one of his books to my grandmother called Nightland was the first time I ever heard his name ~

Sad. I've known too many folks whose lives ended in that manner.

Just remembered an amusing anecdote regarding our family history. An agent I used to work with in South FL had a book that traced various lineages among American families back to Spain and he happened to find a section that related to my surname, which is an uncommon one here in the States.

Anyway, I read the section about the family line and it traced them back several centuries to mostly coastal Spain where the men were fishermen and the women domestic laborers.

My late father was always interested in family history so I copied out a portion of the book for him to read.

I then (jokingly) told him that our family crest was a fishing rod crossed with a mop. (Royalty we're not, apparently.)

🤣

I have some wild family history

My mother was korean born in Japan , she had 7 siblings and her father did something for royalty (not sure what but was in and out of Japan a lot) Also there was an Olympic volleyball athlete from her side of the family

Her brother my uncle owned a factory in Japan and died while at work in Hiroshima when the bomb dropped

My dad's side is polish and there is a lot I don't know of on that side also.. I know my grandfather was in a tank battalion in WW2 my father was part of Vietnam but was stationed in Korea

My dad's oldest brother did one of those family ancestry things and found out someone on that side of the family was distant relative to Eva Braun 😮

Kudos to Gerstner. A few years back I picked up one of their chests that was probably made Pre-WWII, possibly Pre-WWI. No key though. Turns out you can get the number off the side of the lock and they will send you a new key. Or more likely new old stock - the key looks as old as the chest. But for less than $10 I have the ability to lock it up if I want to.,
