Have you seen the new advertisement for GigaBier?

GigaBier is a limited-edition pilsner-style beer brewed in Berlin with Tesla's exclusive strain of “Cyberhops.” Made with a mix of Cyberhops, ...

Looks like about $30/each 😱 and not even available here
I see that it's brewed in Germany, which explains that, but the spelling is... unfortunate in English speaking countries 😅

GigaBier sounds like something designed to support loads over 1000lbs 🤣

Folks I know with natural gas set-up like them, but I prefer portable simply because of frequent earthquakes up here and the additional risk of a line broken. The multi-fuel generators are pretty popular here as well.
Folks with natural gas, find those simpler (especially suburbanites, who already have NG, but not the ability to stick a ~500 gallon propane tank on their property). Didn't work out too well for some folks in TX, when the NG was interrupted during one of the recent freezes.

For rural properties, the on-site propane may be the easier/more reliable solution (and you're not subject to on-demand pricing, which again, was something Texans got smacked by in one of these recent freezes). Fill up thw propane when prices are low(er).

That’s an excellent perspective, thanks for pointing that out Bluemax👍

I did see that with containers that look like the tesla truck right

It was a quick business clip that was on TV, and I didn’t get a good look, but to me it looked like they were going to sell it (promotional stunt?) out of their Cyber-Truck to launch the product. The bottle looked like a vertical futuristic space ship on a launch pad, and being all tapered like that I could just picture the $30 bottle slipping right out of a persons hand.

Dang that’s a long answer to such a simple question that I really don’t know the correct answer to 😂

Hey, any of you guys who have installed whole home generators, especially propane, I'd be interested in your thoughts regarding whether you've been satisfied with the performance, reliability, durability, warranty etc given the relatively high expense of installation.

We lose power a handful of times per year due to living in the mountains and trees falling on power lines and equipment, whether near or far away.

Not really interested in gasoline powered portable generators.

Thanks in advance.
E, Coming from a guy who would always intend to turn his wife’s power back on quickly but is often chasing outages elsewhere, I’d say spend the money. There are far too many variables that decide how long it takes us to get the lights and heat back on. One outage may be a tree branch that can be removed easily and wham bam, lights are back on. The next might be dozens of broken poles and you’re out for days.

Why rely on fate? JMHO.

I have a Kohler 20kw generator that runs everything in my house when needed. My clothes dryer is propane but other than that everything is pretty standard as far as appliances that it operates. It runs on propane. It has been a good unit. It’s air cooled which is nice. They are notorious for burning oil, even brand new. So you have to keep an eye on that. But I’m satisfied with it. It is reliable.

That decision is easy for me - we have no natural gas lines where we live. We are on a 500 gal. propane tank (installed when the house was built in 2008) but these days I wish we had gone with a 750 or 1000 gal tank.
