@SwarthyGnome is awesome!!!!!!

I had a chance to work with him on a iron wood handle project , he made some awesome scales for a DEK and shipped them to me to try something on.....

I mixed up a candy red mid coat and added some red pearl the 2 coats of clear

And he was awesome enough to send them back to me and let me keep them

Gretchen just got a whole lot more sentimental to me

Thank you @SwarthyGnome !!!!!!!!!

Random thought this morning

Was Windows XP Microsoft's best operating system?

There is no such thing.

I think I'm about done with Microsoft. I like to own and control my property and they're getting a little bit too big for their britches anymore.

I guess I need to learn about Linux? Idunno... I'm getting too old for this shit.

Buy a Mac. The ladies in your house will love you for it.

No. DOS without the GUI was better. But everything they put out has been complete and utter crap. I have a hard time processing that humans have chosen to make themselves dependent on such parasitic excrement. Seriously.

Not much learning needed to use this Linux distribution. Get the LTS version. I'd actually recommend some flavor of BSD over Linux (such as FreeBSD), but that will require more effort put into learning. You can use a Windows emulator or have a Windows partition (or drive, or separate machine entirely) if you really need it. Okay, I have no idea what CAD programs are out there for Linux. Is Autodesk AutoCAD still the standard? They probably don't have a Linux version, and I don't know about running such on an emulator. But there's probably something functional and decent out there.

If you got the cash, this is probably your best option. You'll pay out the wazoo, but everything will work and work well out of the box, and the GUI is built on a Unix-like base so all that's there if you want to operate the machine from that angle.

I have had arguments with people about dimensions on a print who did not even understand how right angle projection works.

And refused to listen once it was explained to them.

Actual manufacturing in the 21st century.

It's a brave new world out there.
Orthographic projection? Elementary, no? I recall my eight grade engineering drawing class...

This. ^^

In ages past, when this nonsense was important to me, I ran a Mac using Parallels to also run Windows. Not only was it the most stable PC I‘d ever used, but you could watch Windows brick on it and the Mac side never skipped a beat.

Apple is evil. Period. my use of their tech brings me no joy, but I’m not interested in the gymnastics of keeping an OS doing what it’s supposed to do on its own, and what it’s very name implies. “OPERATING SYSTEM” ffs. Shouldn’t it operate?
