Top Gear did multiple episodes on the Toyota Hilux that just wouldn't die. Don't know why they won't sell them in the US.

The Hiux won't "die" but I almost died in one in the early 90's when its earlier generation models were aplenty in the U.S.

The reason that the later generations do not exist in the U.S. is because the Tacoma replaced the Hilux here in the U.S. and Tacomas were built (assembled) in the U.S. based plants, later on transitioning to Toyota plants based in Baja / Mexico (NAFTA treaty). The Hiux will suffer a 25% tariff if imported to the U.S. so that pretty much killed it. This tariff known as the "chicken tax" applies to trucks, not SUVs hence as to why 4Runners which are still made and assembled in Japan do not suffer a similar fate.

Which would all be fine if they would make a diesel Tacoma.

My 2011 Tundra has about 182K on it right now, it’s been great but the rust is getting to it so a new truck is in my future, say 5 years maybe? A diesel Tacoma would be sweet and might be what could sway to me to go down in size since the prices of the two models can often be close.

I thought everyone carried one of these in there car/truck? I guess not. It’s fixed flats and nails in countless tires. I’ve never been to a dealer for a flat tire. Safety Seal. View attachment 2243189

Smaller, more portable equivalents exists for bikes, too. I have one on each bike. Come with a couple of Nitrous oxide cartriges, so a pump is not required to get rolling.

Yup. For 4-wheeled vehicles, that and a decent 12v Inflator. The Sylvania Rapid is a good one for cars. Compact and pretty quick.

Will work for truck/SUV tires, but not ideal. The 300LPM twin/dual head Inflator on NAPA is the way to go for bigger tires. Way faster than ANY of the Viair pumps, and even faster than the $7xx ARB Twin, for a fraction of the price.
