Random Thought Thread

Nathan rarely mentioned the impetus behind its inception much in public during those earlier days, but since he stated this in several sales threads in the recent years, perhaps it is worthwhile to mention it again in praise pf his friend for the newer CPK'rs who didn't know:

Thanks for posting this. Nathan also mentioned a larger order from an unnamed customer associated with the initial design.

Also, for me, one of the coolest threads on all of BF shows how the “Ur UF” was made in 2014: UF Machining

It's funny, but we tend to fixate on the blade when we're looking at a knife because that's the part we cut with. But the part we hold defines the use of the knife every bit as much as the part we cut with. At least on a properly designed piece.
Literally my favorite part of a Carothers Performance Knife! Every person I've handed one to has taken ahold of it and looked back at me and exclaimed how amazing the handle feels. "It's like it was made to fit my hand" being the most common response. Followed by "WTF!"

No offense to the guys that make their own scales, they look fantastic, but for me it's something I would not replace.

Good evening everyone!

I was wondering if the “carbide tear out” phenomenon occurs when using things like regular water stones (like Naniwa Chosera) rather than diamond stones on the delta 3v in CPK knives?
I’m asking because I saw a video from Neeve’s Knives where he mentions having to use diamond stones on some of the CPM steels instead of water stones because the water stones tear out the carbides causing lower edge stability.

Thank you for your time and knowledge 🤓

There's still some controversy on the topic and not everyone subscribes to it being an issue in the practical sense. It's a rabbit hole for sure.

Thank you Blues!

Two thoughts:

Been a little uncertain lately if this whole thing is fishing, hunting, and bait-trapping, or loving knives to an absurd level.

And,

Found a UF2 in hand a few days ago, and man did that satisfy something I did not know needed satisfying.
Feels like instead of harvesting the bison, it for some magical reason decided to follow me home and help with the chores.

Made it to Portland, OR. I don’t understand how anyone could live here. Y’all are some weird mothertruckers. And apparently they give a drivers license to anyone.

Keep Portland weird, man...

Seriously though, Portland sucks. It's amusing though to be on the outside looking in and watching the city leadership run around like chickens with their heads cut off. They are so detached, so clueless, and entirely useless. After the last time I was up there, I took my boots off before I entered my house and doused them in bleach - yes, there's shit all over the place, literally and figuratively.
