Yes. I agree. It’s out there somewhere. And it will probably be easier for me to find one lost on 80 acres than to score one with my off grid satellite internet. And I wouldn’t put it passed Dexter(the dog).Sorry to hear about the loss but it is good it’s on your own property. I know I’d be going on that scavenger hunt every free minute I had until I found it. Like I always tell my boys when they’ve lost something, “Shit doesn’t just disappear”.
My eldest lost a brand new cell phone the same week he got it. His grandparents bought it for him. I was out of town when it happened and it had been missing 3 or 4 days by the time I returned. Upon my return I interrogated… I mean, asked my son repeatedly to go through his whereabouts and timeline and when he first noticed it missing. His mother and grandparents had written it off. Based on the information I had tortured… I mean obtained from my son, I then made one phone call to a location he had been with his grandfather then went and picked up his phone.
This doesn’t help you in any way except to prove that shit doesn’t just disappear.
I hope you find it.
Also, check that dog sitting up on the trees nonchalantly looking off at nothing. A bit too nonchalant. Definitely hiding something.
Well. No joy. But it’s on my property so I’m definitely not going to totally write it off. And it was an aebl so it may be okay out there for a little while. I took the dogs to “help”. View attachment 2308412View attachment 2308413If deer poop was CPK I‘d beGrenock or
Casinostocks . I’m lucky I have another one and won’t be without. And that was really cool of
Grenock to offer up one of his. My CPK mean a lot to me, as I’m sure his do to him, so that was super generous.
If you can getFirst off, righteous beasts in those pics, boss. Sorry you didn't find it.......yet. Like Matt says, its there, and as long as you didn't skid a log over it and bury it, you can find it. If I may, I suggest two methods of searching. First, a back pack blower. get all the loose litter off all the places you think it could be, then blow the litter off of everything else too. Second, a metal springtooth leaf rake. Same method. Both of those have helped me be successful on searches like yours when throwing in the towel seemed to be the easier option.
Second,Nathan the Machinist , I have had a DEK1 end up on the forest floor once as well after I rolled an ATV down a hill with me on, over, under and beside it. After being thankful it didn't end up inside me, and short but frantic search for it ensued, I was thinking I wished I had brighter scales on it. Mike has touched on the same notion. Could we get something like blaze orange or toxic green micarta/G10 as regular offering for at least the smaller knives in the series, if not all of them? I realize they will not be the hottest selling materials, but those of us that could appreciate them would be willing to pay a premium like we do for other offerings. What a minute, why am I asking you, you don't actually do anything around there, lemme run it by the boss........
HeyJo the Machinist , can we get some hi viz scale materials as a regular offering to help jackasses like me and M Mendoman find our knives when we do dumb stuff like flip ATVs and use lanyards?
Yeah, he has a bunch of them with orange scales as I recall. I think she mistook that for him being the only one that wanted them, when in fact, the greedy fartknocker just bought it all before anyone else could get any. He threw off the curve. If you can getJo the Machinist to get the orange scales in stock
duramax will be your friend. He’s been harping on that for years.

I'm back. what did I miss?
I have Starlink now. I switched from Hughes Net. It is way better and cheaper. With Hughes net there was no streaming or Wi-Fi calling or anything other than browsing. No zoom or anything. Now with Starlink everything works. I don’t know much about speed and such but my wife is a therapist and since Starlink she is able to work from home utilizing various telehealth therapy platforms, which is a game changer since we live so far out. Their customer service is nonexistent though. One day we woke up and it wasn’t working. We noticed the dish was pointing west instead of the original north. They had moved it remotely. The problem was I’m in the woods on the side of a mountain and it was totally blocked. You have to use Starlink cable and they only sell them in a certain length. I had to move my dish and mount it on a 20 ft. poll, drop trees, and then put my receiver in a shed between the new dish location and my house, then run Ethernet cable to my house and set up a switch and wireless access point and and hardwired my wife’s office. All with no communication from Starlink. I “created a ticket” for them to respond to me when it first happened so I could know if it was permanent or not before I did all the work and spent thousands of dollars on new equipment and never heard from them. But since my wife needs it for work I just had to go for it. It worked out and is even better than it originally was. That’s been my only complaint. Otherwise I’m very happy with itFirstly, beautiful working GSDs just like my young friend from VA has said. GSDs are very near and dear to my heart but when I lost my one and only, I rather enjoy seeing and enjoying those of others in their service. Again, beautiful and majestic beasts. I also hope that you shall find yourlostinadvertently misplaced DEK1.
Some OT babble since you mentioned off-grid Internet which I find like runny molasses! Have you had a chance to try out StarLink? In my future off-grid living fantasy, if there is no fast internet, I think that it will just remain that, i.e, a total fantasy! Now onto present day:
I have Spectrum (rebranded Charter which is the same shyte as most of the other shyte!) and supposed to be getting 300 Mbps, not the best but not horrible. However, I have been getting my arse kicked so badly for the past year or so that my whole core confidence has been badly shaken! I was never the fastest but I used to be decent, even coming 2nd or 3rd in some distant past when there were fewer Fridays' sales bandits around the sales thread. So apart from many more participants these days, Nathan's ever growing OPs (many more larger pics and more description) do require faster upload / download speeds and last but not least, one's own hand/eye coordination and speed with a splash of luck on the refresh at 3:00 PM Eastern.
Because my workstation is not wired directly into the modem, my effective speed with the router at the location where the desk is at, was a putrid ~ 5 Mbps / 1 Mbps. HORRIBLE, DOG SH*T! Good thing about becoming an old man, you get to choose to be nasty! Called Spectrum to get to their retention dept and gave them hell about wanting to cancel the whole fooquing thing! Moral of the story, they not only cut my bill by like 60 per mo, they also cranked up my internet to 500 Mbps for FREEEEEEE! Now where I sit at, my speed is > 250 / 20 Mbps. I think with adding an aftermarket Mac compatible turbocharged trackable mouse and closing a few redundant windows, I may stand a chance again to crack the top 20!
Oh Nathan your holiness, the worship which I must commit to at your alter!
ETA: there was also a question in there for those who are more internet speed savvy than me: how is possible that by going from 300 Mbps to 500 Mbps at the tap, without changing a friggin thing, I am now getting these speeds vs the molasses which I was getting before via the router? I am very baffled!
I was wondering why the white smoke.Nathan was selected as the new Pope!
Any time with boerboel? Thanks regarding the working line GSDs. I’ve always had various kind of mastiffs( Bull, French,Brazilian). Then we decided we wanted something with a little more drive. The last mastiff would lay in his bed right next to the window while the bears tore up the trash cans that I rigged with bells and not even get up. We would ask him to go do chores and he would avoid eye contact. They weren’t all that lazy but we decided to go with more drive when the time came. My sister and her husband own a K9 security business in Southern California. He is exmilitary and police. They do everything from high value escorts to work inside hospitals(I guess there are a lot of assaults in hospitals). They do a lot of dog training and I got my dogs from a place down there where they get a lot of their dogs. It was probably a little extreme for what we needed in hindsight because they breed very high drive dogs that an intended to have full time jobs. Plus we got litter mates which the breeder advised against. But the wife wanted to have one with her and I wanted one with me. But it didn’t really work out that way since she has more of a desk job these days. So it takes a lot for me to keep them stimulated and exercised but luckily I live and work out here so it can be done. They are super smart though and love to learn new stuff. We do various obedience work and play games and whatever I can think of to keep them busy. Every night before their dinner they know to go around and clean up all their toys and put them in a box. They are good dogs.
I also have some sons. I think that I really scored with my CPKs! I mean getting into hobbies such as fishing and shooting? Pfffttt… The way that my CPKs have appreciated in value lately, these will not only support the sons’ but also dad’s habits for blow n’ h**kers! #winning
