Last Friday was my birthday and I was doing some filets up in cast iron skillets, I had 4 filets going at the same time and I'd had a smidgen to drink. The timer went off for the medium rare filets and I grabbed an Ove Glove to use like a pot holder for the final flip. I grabbed the skillet, realized I was getting burnt, kept a hold so I could flip the steaks anyways, then let go. A second degree burn, the gift that keeps on giving.

I really like the cast iron skillet steaks in and on the stove but I got a cowboy ribeye that was too big for my skillets so I went and got a cheap charcoal grill just to cook this 2 1/2 lb monster. It was the first time I did a reverse sear but it worked well, getting the whole cut up to 115 under indirect heat then searing the outsides for a nice crust.

The grill was cheaper than that steak. Worth it.

A filet Friday, that monster ribeye Saturday, and a bottle of bourbon split over both days. Sunday was two smoothies, a gallon of water, and a bit of pain and regret.

My kitchen feels like an art museum now.

Unlike most art museum exhibits though, I like this stuff.

Nasty burn there! Make sure to keep it clean - a craftsman/artisan needs two good hands!!!
You may need to restock the medicine/liquor cabinet. Burns can be annoyingly painful without proper care!

Oh and Happy Birthday!!!!

Two good hands and at least a half a functioning brain. Grog is almost there, but the operative word is ALMOST as self evident by this saga :D

Happy Birthday Dan, yer ogre! :D :D

No wonder the nieces, nephews and the kids in general luv Ya. You're still a kid at heart Brother
