Here in the Bay Area, FB has full medical histories of much of the population. How did they get them ? Several hospitals received Zuckerberg grants. In return, FB received "anonymized" medical records, without name or social, etc., that the hospitals removed.
Then, as a patient, you go to one of these hospitals - and while waiting for your appointment - browse FB or just use google maps. FB then correlates location data that it receives independently with "anonymous" medical records.
I stopped using FB years ago entirely. Also deleted google maps from my phone. My only remaining social media use is BF.
If you aren't paying for it, you're the product.
I'm continually amazed at how this is lost on people. Or even worse, they just don't care that they are being used and monetized in ways they prefer to be unaware of.
