A work associate this morning asked me a question that I had a hard time answering so I'll ask for input here.

Since the 1980s what significant INVENTIONS have been created? Not advancements in current tech level of things, but a NEW thing like TV or the Internal combustion engine.

I was going to say electric motors but those have been around for a while. Then I settled on the tech advancement of polymers and plastics getting better because I couldnt think of a true invention in my lifetime.

Wierd. Let me know what you come up with. (I'm leaving at noon today)

Just like nuclear energy, and the internet + smartphones, this is another extremely powerful innovation, that has incredible potential, for both good, and bad.

*** I remember going out to hang out with a group of friends, over a decade ago, and at one point in the night, saw that the group of about 8 people, was literally embodying the meme where everyone in the group, who conceivably went out to interact and spend time with one another, were ALL simultaneously on their smartphones, not interacting with anyone else.

People have fallen off balconies to their death while taking selfies, so you know there's something wrong with humanity.

That being said, I know i feel a little sense of panic when I forget my phone when I leave the house. But once in a while I just say "F" it and live life on the edge.

I'm not a "hoarder" (yet) but I can't keep myself from buying "stuff."

Been having pretty good lucky getting prompt deliveries on stuff I've ordered recently but have now gotten "delayed" messages, particularly from the NY area for 2 of 4 outstanding pkgs from USPS & UPS.

Anyone aware of any problems of note affecting the NY that would cause this?
