Speaking of car issues, my truck had a traction control light come on last time I was in it. Then it put up a message saying “limiting engine power”, and it would only let me drive 5-10 mph. Then I pulled over and turned off the traction control and restarted it. And it allowed me to drive at a normal speed again. But now the check engine light is on. So, I guess I’ll have to take it to the dealer to get that worked out. 2018 Chevy 2500

Limp mode?

Sorry I don't know much about the drive train , but pervious explorers had a corrosion problems with the aluminum hoods

I have not seen this problem yet on the newer model explorer (not saying it will not happen)

And SpyderPhreak SpyderPhreak I just painted 2 fenders and blended the doors on a new pearl white Toyota SUV , reason is the paint peeled off all the way down to the sealer.... don't know if this is an isolated problem or an upcoming big issue
Yoko, curious, what year/model/paint code? My Sequoia is a 2015 in Blizzard White Pearl… 😬 Looks great, but hope I don’t have issues. No problems yet, knock on wood.

Speaking of my Sequoia, this was my day today… 🫤

The thing that sucks is this has the factory big brake kit (massive 16” rotors!), and I could NOT find new pads anywhere! The BBK is made by Stoptech, so it’s not like you can go to your local parts store for the replacement pads. 😖 In searching, I found out that the part is out of stock like damn near everywhere in the US, and Toyota nationwide has over 400 pad kits on back order. :poop: What really pisses me off is that there are plenty of online dealer parts places that list them for sale, but it’s not until AFTER you place the order that you get the email saying they’re back ordered. 🤨

There is ONE performance shop I found down in Florida that has the pads, but they were $188. 🤬 No Vaseline included. He told me on the phone he only had 7 more in stock, and once they were gone, he’d be in the same boat as everyone else. Bent over to the tune of $100 over factory pricing, but I needed them NOW. 🤦‍♂️

Possible that it’s galvanic corrosion. There are ways to mitigate it in the design. They may not have taken those steps.

I should use a magnet to see if the inner structure is steel

That would explain it

Even if the structure is steel and the body panel is aluminum, I really doubt it’s galvanic corrosion. There’s not much galvanic potential between steel and aluminum. More likely it’d be different CTE’s (coefficient of thermal expansion), but I still don’t think that’d be it. Possible, but unlikely.

Salt isn't the factor in the aluminum corrosion

But climate could be. I'm very close to Detroit and we can get very cold and hot

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you (for warranty does cover the hood corrosion with a replacement up to a certain amount of years though)

And do not let them low ball you too bad on your trade in , if you have one

@Casinostocks might be able to help a lot more than me!
Actually, salt is a factor for galvanic corrosion.

I’ve found the best thing to do when you are having car or truck problems, just Cummins swap it. 🤣

Had a good day yesterday. The “boy” won his baseball game and had another good hit for a single. Got in a shouting match with the other teams coach over an out we got that should have ended the game. I hope this season isn’t going to be like this…throwing blows at a goddamn kids machine pitch game. 🤣😡

I used to work 12 hour shifts everyday in the oil field and on gas plant shutdowns a long long time ago.

It ain't got crap on doing shifts taking care of a newborn 😆😆😆

I can't even remember what day it is most of the time.

I relate to this video so much now 🤣
(sorry couldn't figure out how to get just the video to post instead of a link you have to click)
