Interesting how technology has changed.

Got a crown this afternoon. The process started last November, when they put a titanium dowel in my jawbone:

The screw hole in the dowel was filled temporarily with a titanium screw, until the bone was healed.

6 months later, the filler screw is removed, replaced by a small plastic tube (to get the crown orientation right), and then my teeth were scanned with a laser device to build a CAD model (:

Using that model, they 3D print a crown. Then, in the lab and using the 3D print, they make the final crown that will be screwed into the dowel - with a small torque wrench :)

Remember that pink rubbery stuff that was used to make impressions of your teeth ? Not anymore. Fascinating.

they did that for me last septrmber. had to grind off the dead chipped off portion of my molar and luckily I didnt need the dowel or titanium. they just took an impression of the stump that was still good and made a crown for it.

I can tell the difference but i got to trade 3 grand for a ''not root canal''

so.... I guess I won.

FIL is showing small signs of improvement, he is alert and responsive when he wakes up. Still trying to keep him somewhat sedated since he is incubated. Going to have a long road to recovery, his lungs are still full of fluid and he is still sepsis. Praying for the best is about all we can do now.

Hot as balls over here, it’s 80 in Bellingham. And I only paid $3.73 for Diesel! It’s still $4.79 down by me.

Was going to bring the trailer but all the girls got a hotel, so we were going to stay at the in laws. But now they talked us into a hotel in Bellingham for one night so the kids can go swimming later tonight. I need to go find something for dinner, I’m getting hangry.

He reminds me a lot of my dad, stubborn and tougher than hell. I know he’s mad at my wife and his daughters for calling 911 because he gave us the double middle fingers in his ICU room. 🤣🤣 Hoping he pulls through. Doctors say if he would have laid like that one more night in his house he would have died.

I always thought Titanium was pretty cool stuff, more so now that I’m partially made of it.
This pic isn’t me, I don’t have a copy of mine on my phone- but it looks juuuust like this.
It doesn’t move like the original but at least I still have 2 arms, which is cool, because I have 2 Shivs and it would just be weird to have 2 Shivs and only one good arm.
