This is my first time seeing the Pacific Ocean. I've never been further west than Texas before this.
Well, that’s pretty cool, in my book, Nathan. Sounds like you are enjoying yourselves.

If you guys stop in Sitka there is an amazing lady that sells fresh halibut and chips at the dock. And there is a bar and pizza joint in town that is upstairs that is to die for!
If that is the restaurant that I’m thinking of, the food was great, as was the service. Their oysters were pretty tasty, too.

I had a scuba diving buddy who had very deep family pockets and got a Mitsubishi 3000 GT. When he got it, he asked me to drive it to see what it was capable of, figuring that because I had a badge I wouldn't get into trouble if we got stopped. (Fortunately, we didn't.)

I will say it was fast. I don't know if it was as fast or faster than the Grand National I'd sometimes get to drive which was a UC car at work.

My most exhilarating ride was going across an Indian reservation in FL with my wife on the back of the ST1100 at over 130 mph and her hitting me in the back and telling me to go faster. (I was younger and stupider back then...but it was fun.)

Oh shit it really does have a turbo? 🤦🏼‍♂️ Looked stock/basic🙃
I still hate it.

Yeah, they were cool cars. Pretty quick for their day and lighter and vastly simpler than cars today. Slick 5-speed transmission, over 200 horsepower, and not too heavy.

Kids these days don't know what they're missing. Cars are mostly big heavy smush boxes anymore. The idea of feeling the road through the steering wheel is a foreign concept. These cars are definitely not state-of-the-art, but sometimes things like drive-by-wire don't make the car better.

For example, a late '80s Taurus SHO or a 90s probe GT is a lot of fun to drive. I will die on this hill.

Those old SHO redlined I think around 7k rpm , my buddy had one when I was younger

And those old JDM AWD were crazy from a launch, if they didn't break

I didn’t think the newer ones came with turbos. I only remember them in the 1st and 2nd gen GTS and Eagle Talons Tsi’s.
Same. A life long friend of mine got one out of high school similar to the one I posted. Dude thought he was so fricken cool and to this day still brags on it. Pretty sure his bank repossessed it.
My cousin had a 3000 GT twin turbo those suckers would get up and go.
Them red ones always got my attention.

I would totally rock a robocop style sho.

We had a LeBaron(no turbo) convertible in the family around the time I turned 16. It was so slow. Like dangerously slow when trying to merge onto a highway or pull across certain intersections.
Yeah, small engine with the turbo was a different animal. It was a little screamer. Of course, it wasn't any better looking than a Gremlin. LOL.
(But then it was Uncle Sam's vehicle. )

Yeah.

1989 Ford Taurus SHO pulled 0-60 in a screaming 6.7 seconds.

And the ‘92 Ford Probe GT zipped in at 7.2 seconds.

Almost as fast as my ‘23 Subaru Outback’s 5.7 seconds. 😐

My old boss had not one but two SHO’s lemon-lawed. Ah yes, the good ol’ days…

Maybe consider turning off your phone and enjoying the cruise.

Please. For me.
