A neighbor who seems to lie in wait so he can engage me in meaningless conversation when I walk past with the dog. Every day it's some other stupid shit. He's a nice enough guy, but he just can't take the hint that if I'm looking the other way and concentrating on the dog, I don't really feel like stopping to engage in blather. He just happens to walk out the door, or out of his garage when I go by. I know it's not because I have such a nice ass.

Okay, that's my mean-spirited comment for the day.

I call that "getting treed" as in a cat that has been run up a tree by a dog and stuck, held captive while they piffle on in their endless mindless pointless blathering.

Happens sometimes

Fortunately I'm losing my hearing so I can just legit keep walking

This is the inn that Jo and I and the kids stayed at when we visited Chimney Rock during Ben and Sue's marriage. I figured it probably got wiped out in the flood.

I saw this before and after picture on the news today and I was like, oh shit I think that's it.

I have a neighbor who is a very nice lady but she’s a can short of a six pack and has no sense of boundaries. This would be fine except she works at our local CVS which means for anything I would normally go to the drugstore for I drive an extra 5 minutes….i made the mistake of picking up some DayQuil once and got stuck in 5 minutes of “oh who’s sick? I could have picked this up for you blah blah blah” and the whole time I was thinking “I just want to go home and take this so I can sit on calls without feeling like my head is going to explode and also I want to stop breathing on other people ASAP since I’m sick AF.” But I know she’d be the same way with imodium….top of her lungs “oh hey neighbor got some diarrhea? You could have asked, I have some at home, you wouldn’t have had to run out with it dripping down your legs. Oh it’s for the kids not you? Oh I remember when Mavis lived in your house blah blah blah."

And she’s nice so I don’t want to be a jerk to her but I also don’t want to get sucked into these invasive time-consuming morasses….so I just avoid her as much as possible.

I wear my Air Pods and pretend that I’m on a call or listening to music while at work or on dog walks just to avoid conversations with the annoying ones.

On a weirdly related tangent to ass grabber, I once taught someone archery, using that as an acronym to remember the key points for consistency

Anchor point (always draw to the same anchor point)
Sight picture
Grip (keep it loose so you don’t torque the bow)
Aim
Breathe
Release
