Random Thought Thread

Wife bought turkeys today, then text and said the beer cooler isn’t working in the garage. Just got home and ripped it apart, needs a new thermostat. Guess add that to the list of chit to get done tomorrow asap. At least it’s cold enough the turkeys can spend the night outside.

Pretty crappy day at work today. A coworker, maybe in his early thirties(?) died last night (they think a blood clot or heart attack). Wife and 2 young kids left without a husband and dad.

This guy was pretty cool and had a knife hobby. He and I would show each other new pocket knives we got and talk about knives. He was the only knife guy I know in person, and same for him. He's the only guy I know that could talk about knife steel, makers, bearings versus washers, or whatever.

Ain't that some kinda bullshit?

Got my kid, my wife, and my dog wrapped up in a big family pileup, bear hug for a bit and that helped.

I am sorry for his passing and y’alls pain. I spent many years working in critical care, and the the corny sayings about living every day like it is your last, or to follow your dreams, or to tell the people you love how you feel are all valid. Life can change or end in an instant and sometimes it is very difficult to understand. I am glad you have family and dog for some support.

My friend and apprentice at work has been through some wild health issues, I can't remember what the diagnosis is right now.... but he's on his 3rd open heart surgery at 28 years old.....

I was talking to him after the surgery a bit ago... he was happy he said "I made it to a life goal"

He replied "I made it to 28 ... my mom passed at 27 from the same thing....:


These things change you and force you to appreciate life just a little bit more

made chili yesterday, got groceries, cleaned up the shop a bit, (renovating my work space, it's going great!) washed dishes after supper and then the power went out for a bit. Power came on long enough to make a cookie monster meme, then it went out again just in time for bed. Hmmm. We made chili today and then our power went out and still is. Hoping it's back tomorrow because I have a package from Peters coming and thus some grinding to do.
