Random Thought Thread

Well, all four NY teams, active at the moment have managed to lose since yesterday evening. Their consistency is underwhelming. (This debacle does not include the Buffalo Bills at the current moment.)

Maybe I should be the one having a bourbon. I bought two bottles at the ABC store the other day.

Can't understand why people feel sorry for the teams. They're all multi-millionaires. It's the fans that suffer.

Still unclear…
Imagine you were in Barrie with all those cute gals...but the marshal posted all firearms had to be checked. (Pretend Barrie isn't in Canada.)

(Oh, and that you weren't married.)

Wouldn't that be a pistol? Or maybe a firecracker. I dunno. Take your pick, or both.

Savvy?

LOL.

Elliott, so a G26 is easier to shoot( inspite of the short grip) over a single stack g43x or a 48? I do find the G48 snappy, unfortunately the range doesn't have a G26 to try out.
I don't have a problem with the G26 despite the shorter grip. The stouter grip, compared to the single stack Glocks, is more hand filling, and I'm used to curling the pinky under the grip like I would with a J frame, unless I'm using a +2 magazine or a 15 round spare.

You'd be surprised to find just how effective the grip with the ring and middle fingers is in controlling the gun...both in aiming and recoil.

Put it this way...I would qualify with a G19 and a G26 one after the other for many years, four times annually. My scores were literally within a point or two of one another, with neither one of them being dominant in that regard. Sometimes the 19, sometimes the 26.

Thanks Blues, you said it much better but that was exactly what I was trying to say.
If you have never read Massad Ayoob articles about such, it is a good idea. Also Gun Digest has a recent article about perceptions and how things get twisted in court. Never mind the civil suits.

My brother was raked over the coals after using a S&W mod 29 in an on duty shooting where his partner was killed by a shotgun blast. 3 armed suspects. Craziness of a .44 magnum being deemed too powerful was touted and Dirty Harry character was even brought up. He ‘won’, but the whole process changed him as an officer and as a person.

The best intentions can be twisted- especially when money is involved such as a lawsuit.

Not meaning to rant. Stay safe.

Yeah. Harold Fish was another one raked over the coals (10mm. Too powerful). Exonerated, but they still tried (and he spent at least a couple years in jail).

Piggybacking on the conversation about blinging up your gun.

There is a massive market that is focused on (for lack of a better descriptor) Call of Duty cosplayers. I advise everyone I can to steer clear of it all. Perceptions are everything and if they can be used against you, they will be, so best to avoid them, in my opinion. 'Tis better to look and act the everyman. Not only does it do a better job at normalizing responsible gun ownership but it's a bit harder to read into intent when you don't look like you're about to go all Punisher when someone looks at you sideways.

I think it is easy to forget that when we are fighting for our rights, we have to court public perceptions and opinions as well. Frankly, I don't think we do as good a job as we should at accomplishing that.
