Random Thought Thread

I drove through the worst blizzard conditions I’ve seen in decades last night, returning from a trip to Algonquin Provincial Park. Several observations:
- it was clear weather, for the most part, entirely through Canada
-it was warmer in Canada than it was in New York
-winds were likely over 50mph for a lot of it, with snowfall rates of 2”/hr
-in many places, I was driving through 8” or so of windswept snow, with very little visibility
-in some instances, I was forced to stop because I couldn’t see ANYTHING except white. Meaning, I couldn’t see the hood of my car two 2” from the windshield.
- I was forced to rely on GPS just to make sure I was pointed in the same direction as the road
-there were a LOT of cars in ditches
-all of this is still preferable to me than doing anything in Florida

Yeah, and I'm from North Carolina, which is really nice.

We shouldn't be punching down. Florida can't help it.

And, to any customers who live in Florida and I may have offended. I'm sorry for offending you. I'm also sorry about your entire state.

I know where I am but pardon me for mentioning another brand's product here.

I posted the following in the General Discussion Thread but the admins moved it to the Feedback: Good, Bad & Ugly sub where no one will ever see it. So, I'd like to see if I can get a response from someone here by DM, please, so as not to clutter this thread with responses to it:

See: How Does The Oz Drop Work?

Thanks in advance for any DM responses.

So many of them have come to Texas in recent years that our governor had to hold a televised address to quell fears of a hostile takeover.
To be fair, a great many of them are good and decent people (we're all Americans, after all). I just new we were in for trouble when my instagram feed got flooded by influencers discovering the "5 best hidden taco spots in Austin" or the "absolute best new, authentic BBQ spot in [_suburban strip mall_]". But I suppose those influencey types come from all over.

That sounds like a lot for your region.
We had about 16" in January of 2022. I don't think we've had very much since. This'll be fun. (Not really.)

(We're also on our own in this subdivision. No county services so we have to arrange having our gravel roads scraped, graded etc. My driveway is steepish for a section so may have to have a friend with a tractor give me a hand if the accumulation at the bottom is too much for the 4Runner to plow through on the way up to the road from the garage.)
