Well, here's the situation right?

You want heat in your house

So the power plant is going to take the heat, from burning coal

The heat that you want

And use it to boil water into steam.

Due to the latent heat of water, it takes a lot of energy to boil water

That energy is largely just lost

And then they use the steam pressure to turn a turbine

A lot of that energy is lost too

And then this turbine converts rotational mechanical energy into electrical energy. This step is actually pretty efficient.

And then it is transmitted along power lines to your house, with some loss

Where you take all of this carefully crafted electricity and subject it to a controlled short-circuit to make the heat that you wanted. That was present in the coal in the first place. But you threw most of it away.

Electric resistive heat is ironic because it is both 100% efficient and also the least efficient use of electricity possible, because it does no work other than create heat.
So you just described how they use our tax dollars i think.

Just replace money with electricity

^^

Nah nah, dude.

If it was really like with taxes,

imagine that instead of coal, they were burning actual money.Straight-up $100 bills.

That’s exactly how it is with taxes.

And picture this: in the furnace, about half the money just gets burned up completely. Then, with whatever’s left of those bills, they stick little wind turbines on top, hoping those turbines will somehow generate electricity.

I like the fact that, at the end of the day, the most efficient way to get energy — literally for anything — is just to burn something.

And you know what’s even funnier?

That’s pretty much how it’s gonna stay, no matter how much time passes 😅

Nuclear energy is solid too.

Basically, it’s just explosions, right?

You get what I mean?

Burning something or exploding something — that’s essentially the best energy.

By the way, back in 2022–2023 I bought shares in a uranium energy company, and they went up almost 8 times.

No joke, I genuinely think the real future is nuclear energy.

Sure, it can blow up, but damn, even Homer Simpson managed to handle it all.

I’d trust the safety management to someone like:

Isnt nuclear energy just steam pushing a turbine around?

They dip uranium in water and it boils the water and creates steam?
Am I wrong?

I wouldnt doubt it.

Hey, you already know way more than I do.
I’ve always known and still know this is the future.
It’s definitely better than solar.
And cleaner than any other energy source.
Relax — this much knowledge is plenty to handle safety at one of these plants.

Unless I buy into it then watch the sector fall into a black hole financially

Dude, if you ever decide to invest in uranium, please — just buy the stocks, or at least some kind of paper that says it belongs to you.
I extremely do NOT recommend keeping it in a safe at home.
(Not financial advice)
As soon as you buy, I go short.

Last night was wild!

Heading home on the highway my transmission shuddered then the truck immediately duty off so I coasted the the shoulder..... tried to restart with no luck . At this same time I realized my phone was almost dead so I hurried and called for a tow (included with our vehicle insurance)

They said no problem............ the flat bed would pick me up in 5hrs 😮

So I said screw it and started to wait.... hours into my waiting a state highway patrol car pulled up to check on me (very nice officer) and we tried to jump my truck with his jump pack with 0 luck

I informed him I called for a tow and told him how long the wait was.... he replied "I can call you a tow and it will be here in 15 minutes)

After already waiting hours my immediate answer was yes! Lol

By the time I got home I enjoyed a few well earned adult beverages and feel asleep on the couch

Then this morning my wife wasn't feeling well so I grabbed her and we went to the ER (all the tests say everything is okay!)

After that I cleared snow at my dad's house and loaded a bunch of split wood into the house for his wood burner

Glad everything's okay, Yoko. Take the night off.
Thanks E !

I'm happy my wife is okay, the truck doesn't really bother me at all

The tow driver told me a week ago some one speeding on the highway cut around a semi and didn't see the flat bed.... hit the tow truck ..... which hit the driver of the tow truck standing outside of it and flung him onto the interstate

He said before he knew what happened he seen headlights coming towards him and he just started running towards his truck

That's crazy!

I'm glad everything is ok with your wife.

As for the truck ... I wish we could dump all the "advancments" in modern vehicles and go back to gas guzzlin steel and to knowing you had 10 or 15 good years coming out of a new vehicle (well in most cases).

I'll have an extra glass for ya tonight! 🍻
