Seems like it would be tricky to word that without making it illegal to put max cargo capacity in the back... which causes the same sort of stance. Depending on how bad your springs are. But maybe it's OK to ban that too

but I guess they did. Seems like it's pretty badly worded but what else is new.
;)
First off, even if a vehicle’s attitude winds up aiming at the sky like that due to being overloaded (doesn’t matter whether it’s due to weak springs or whatever; if a vehicle winds up at that angle, it’s overloaded for its capabilities), it’s a safety concern.

The driver can’t see shit. Their headlights will be blinding everyone else on the road. Braking and handling are all compromised.

Secondly, the laws explicitly mentions ā€œmodified/alteredā€, and excludes pickups (conceivably because those might wind up like that due to the bed being overloaded).

Granted, I do know more than one idiot who’s said, ā€œIt’s just a leveling kit, broā€¦ā€. Hey dumbass, the manufacturer DESIGNED the vehicles performance the way it came from the factory. Your ā€˜leveling kit’ is just stupid BS for aesthetics.

I used to drive an old 95 Lincoln Continental that had rear air bag suspension that leaked overnight and would look like that in the morning!! šŸ˜‚

No expensive suspension modification needed!! šŸ˜
Reminds me of the old Citroens. ā€œUhhh… I think your suspension is blownā€¦ā€.

ā€œNo. The car settles when you shut it off. Watch this..ā€ (they start it up and the car rises several inches). ā€œWhoaā€¦ā€

Not sure I completely agree with the statement that it is necessarily overloaded (I do agree with the headlights and the visibility). If I put a heavy trailer on my one-ton (CGVW and tongue weight still within the truck's listed capabilities), the truck squats. Of course the headlights go in the air and it's a bit harder to see (but the visibility isn't as bad as it is from a stock 2026 GM). All that until I put air in the rear bags to bring it back to level.

Yeah I've got to agree with that. Airbags do have a place on a heavy duty truck. While it's correct to say the manufacturer designed it and if you stick within its specifications you shouldn't need to worry about it, but I believe there are instances where airbags to bring the truck back up to level while it is heavily loaded is justified and good practice.

My F350 is rated for 7K in the back but, it squats pretty bad when I do it. And you can momentarily see substantially more than that due to kinetics and road condition when pulling a heavy gooseneck. It is rated for these things as built but I think airbags are pretty sensible for some conditions.

7k tongue weight on a hitch or the gooseneck ?

By the way, I actually thought that pickups (or cars in general) lifted like that were just some kind of show-off exhibition thing.
But driving around on the road like that… damn.

Imagine you buy a coffee, put it in the cup holder, and it just spills because your car is tilted so much… šŸ˜…

According to local laws, since my driving licence was only one year old, I was required to put up a ā€œnovice driverā€ sign (like the beginner/exclamation mark sticker).
I didn’t put it on because I hate spoiling the clean, original look of the car… but some people actually do.

LIKE THIS…! šŸ˜…

Here is something for your coffee:
