As to free will, I say that adults should have the freedom to do stupid things, even if harms themselves. They shouldn’t have to listen to me even if I’m correct.
So

We should have fentanyl in the vending machine. Right?

This would solve so many problems

My friend's brother died 2 weeks ago. Age 50. He was the "healthy" one in the family. Vegan and competitive cyclist. He was at a race that morning, had just completed his warmup and was making adjustments to the bike. His wife, reading a book in the car, heard him fall. Blood came out of his mouth and he couldn't be revived. They were shocked and had an autopsy, but it was inconclusive.

Wow. That's really sad.

So. I ate the whole thing.

Now I feel bad about myself.

Tomorrow I will not eat until after work. Then I will sprint up the hill next to where I live 10 times.

Then I will throw up and then eat more probably.

My wife gave me the green light to make some hooch. It'll be a riot.

Woohoo! Free .22 pistola has threaded barrel! 😁 Guess I need to start shopping suppressors since the tax stamp went away.

I'll will say this on behalf of some people considered obese

My Korean grandmother who i never had the chance to talk to was bigger than normal..... everyone else in my family is skinny

She was not a big eater like myself she was just bigger

I am the only "husky" (that's what my mom called me when I was little lol) person on both sides of my family .... I rarely was given fast food , I didn't drink when I was 10 ....I was always just fluffier than anyone I was related to and around

I played sports when younger but was always chubby

I can change my life and eat 20 calories a day to be skinny

But I'm happy....I like beer, I like eating food that is delicious in reason and I love cooking for friends

If you want to call someone a fatty say it to my face cause it's really different for some people in life and I'll still probably give you a hug
Coconut calves has great genetics. Probably have a great physique after 6 months of strength training.

I've gotten to that point. And I only weigh 180 lbs.
You're my hero. Teach me.
I had a friend who was into some weird stuff

It was called tater tot porn......

It was little people with no arms and legs

I quit hanging out with him hahahaha
That was probably smart. More than likely you would have ended up in the bottom of a basement pit putting lotion on your skin while being blasted with a fire hose

Both quantity and quality of calories do matter.
Had a family friend. Thin built and always walked a few miles everyday. But had a bad sweet tooth. Diabetes, heart attack, needed surgery. He was getting on in years at that point, but the medical complications could have been avoided.

Sometimes, people referring to a heart attack can mean 2 different things
1. A true heart attack/myocardial infarction/heart muscle dying out because the supplying artery is blocked
2. dangerous heart rhythms causing sudden death. Intense exercise, +/-very high caffeine intake, fast heart rate, exacerbating a preexisting structural heart problem or faulty wiring of the heart.

The incidence of both 1 and 2 in ultramarathoners and exercise freaks is very very low but the reason it sticks out, is because, no one forgets the ultramarathoner who suddenly keels over.

Reasonable to ask why does this population have heart attacks at all? Probably multifactorial- chronic high inflammation in addition to non obvious causes, which are also applicable to the general population- lipid abnormalities, past excesses catching up, current steroid/substance abuse, high homocysteine levels(sometimes caused by low vitamin b12, especially in vegans) etc. The obvious causes would be obesity, smoking, hypertension, diabetes.

Yup.

And much like the small percentage probability of someone’s mother’s neighbor’s dog walker’s uncle’s sister’s third cousin surviving the rollover in an accident because they weren’t wearing a seatbelt, and were ejected in the crash with minimal injuries, the overwhelming majority of accident victims do far better when they DO have their seatbelts properly fastened.

The thing is, that chiding people for not taking personal responsibility for their health, isn’t merely some kind of elitist who trip thing. For folks who’ve seen the outcomes when people don’t take care of their health, it’s a warning.

I’ve personally known too many people who’ve not just had health issues, but passed away far too young, due to health issues and complications from being obese/overweight.

One was the wife of a good friend. She was in her late 30s. It devastated him. The sad thing was that they were both significantly overweight, and he told me just a few months prior, that he’d decided he needed to do something about his weight, because he wanted to make sure that he would be there for her, and not wind up leaving her prematurely over something that he could take steps to mitigate, so he started eating better, going on more walks, going to the gym. Unfortunately, he should have talked to her about it. Explained WHY he was doing it, and said something along the lines of, “We should do this together, because I want to be able to spend the rest of my life with you, for as long as possible”.

She’d already gotten to the point where she had Type 2 diabetes, and had leg sores. He came home after work one day, a few months after he’d begun his health kick, to find her face down in front of the bathroom. He later told me he couldn’t even turn her over, because rigor had already begun to set in.

Also knew someone in their late 20s, who passed away last year. He’d already been in the hospital about 3-4 years prior, with tachycardia and AFib, and still did nothing to change his lifestyle, or lose the excess weight. A mutual friend found him in his bed, when they went over to check on him when no one including his girlfriend, could reach him on the phone.

Take care of your health, people. If not for yourselves, do it for those you care about, because losing loved ones always hits hard.
