Random Thought Thread

Everybody selects red = everybody is fine

People start selecting blue, then a whole bunch of other people also need to select blue, to save dumb people from themselves. These are people who created an unnecessary problem and they need a bunch of other people to rally and put themselves at risk to save them when they could have just everybody select red.

Is there some kind of an upside to Blue?

Like, if half the population selects blue, and blue wins, does something good happen?

Because, if the outcome is the same regardless of red or blue, why wouldn't EVERYBODY just select red? What would be the harm in everybody just selecting red?

Maybe I don't understand this thought experiment

If all else is equal, you could either have a real risk of peril by selecting blue and hope a whole bunch of other people also take an unnecessary risk and also select blue, for no reason. Or everybody just selects red.

Maybe I don't understand this thought experiment.

I'm selecting red. Everybody can be responsible for their own safety. I don't understand taking a risk of death to select blue if it doesn't accomplish something, other than saving other people who also selected blue. For no reason.

Somebody explain this to me, it seems really dumb.
It’s a thought experiment to test if someone values ‘seeming’ altruistic and all kumbaya n shit, over having any damned sense 😂

After all, in real life, there are no people who choose something that literally leads to their own destruction?

Right? There aren’t?

Well, surely no one would choose something that will destroy them and everyone like them in the long run?

It's just that everything I see — a lot of people (and I'm in no way hinting at anything specific!)

— literally, consciously, and constantly choose the option that will lead to big problems for themselves and for people like them.

Well, maybe there are

Suicidal empathy seems to be a "blue" trait. It is leading to the ruin of Europe.

King John Sobieski would be rolling in his grave to see what Europe is allowing to happen, without putting up even the slightest effort to protect this beautiful thing that people fought and died to create. Ruining it, for nothing. Its ruin will solve no problems, it's just an unimaginable loss. For nothing.

Kind of like this blue-red thought experiment.

Maybe that's what they mean by it?

Not so random thought;

Stupid people aggravate me.

Ordered replacement shocks for the daily driver. Went to go replace them. Ugh. Despite calling and speaking to a person to doublecheck the part for the specific vehicle, they shipped the wrong part.

THEN I realize as I’m putting the wheel back on, that the dumb shits who mounted the new tires a few weeks ago LOST the hubcentric ring on at least one wheel. “Hmmm… so maybe that vibration WASN’T from worn shocks?”.

Great.

Now I get to see if Amazon will ACTUALLY deliver the new hubcentric rings tomorrow, before I head out of town Saturday (ever since the gas hikes, their delivery has been inconsistent, where it used to be fairly dependable for me, before).
