Random Thought Thread

Yeah, I heard they ship 'em here from Vancouver Island:D

This is a bird sanctuary, so they can't be hassled or shot.......

But honestly, while Morro Bay is a beautiful place, even a turkey would probably never want to leave Vancouver Island. It is equally beautiful, if not more. I've been there.....

Half mile away and the neighborhood has gone to the birds (today's images):

I'm shocked that they roam around freely and without much apparent apprehension like that in your "hood". I mean around here, the coyote contingent would go full on hyena on them turkeys!

Ok now my real reason for coming here ... my random thought of tonight is ... are people really that ignorant ? Or am I just pmsn' ?

Lawd the rest of the forum as gotten ahold of the good stuff or there is a gas leak or something ... I think several have lost their minds today and tonight ...

Oh wait my glass is empty ... I doubt that is the problem ... but it might be why it seems extra tonight ...

Oh ... and before the giggly eyes get stuck to someone's butt cheeks and posted ... (cause ya know that's gonna happen at some point) ... please please please post a disclaimer that this might not be appropriate for all viewers and discretion is advised ... thanks !

Don't worry, those googly eye pics will get posted in the appropriate place;)

The beautiful coastline of San Juan Island, as enjoyed by myself and my EDC3 (and maybe a few cold ones)

...I know it's not a CPK pic - these Goose Barnacles (Percebes) are not native to the PNW but they are starting to show up along our coastlines. First time I've seen them in-person; they are pretty crazy and otherworldly looking.

@Benson X, moving my response over here since it is off topic.

What part of the PNW are you in? I just ask because I know that I personally have seen goose neck barnacles in archaeological deposits going back a couple thousand years in Oregon. I don't actually know off the top of my head where the cutoff has traditionally been for them. If you are further north, it would be worth my time to look into their range so that I can figure out if they are a useful climate proxy.

Are you referring to prices people are asking by chance? There have been some real head scratchers lately, especially when people list something for more than it is currently available from a vendor.

No I have noticed that too lately ... but this was just another sales dispute but it was clear it had been tampered with ... was a total mess ...

and in the cases you mentioned it didn't surprise me that someone would ask for more ... but it does puzzle me as to why someone would and pay $50.00 over new from any dealers cost.
