Speaking of Costco, no more food samples till this Coronavirus situation is deemed as safe. OK, we know that all medical related stuff such as isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, medical gloves, N95 particulate masks are sold put but SOL if looking for products like Clorox wipes, Lysol, hand sanitizers, liquid road, yada, yada... I did something for the first time in my life, all 56+ years of it: bought a whole Costco pack of Spam. I hear that stuff is bulletproof :)

ETA: Costcos down here limit water and paper products to 2 packs per punter.
Cubed up and fried, spam makes great stir fry. My 12 year old makes it all the time. He takes it out of the 4-5 we keep for some “ just in case “ meat. Tastes great and I don’t ever have to worry about rotating out the old stuff, even if it would’ve lasted 5 years anyway.

Mmmmm.... fried with onions and a little garlic, just like mom used to make. I can smell it now...

That said, haven't eaten, bought any in well over a decade.

I haven't had SPAM in.........I don't remember how long. The only thing that I do remember was that it was very salty. I see that there is a low sodium version now. I may try it.

SPAM is the unofficial state meat.

Also. I've asked MANY peoples that I know this exact question with NO all around.

Can you tell me the name of one person THAT YOU KNOW PERSONALLY who has contracted and died from Coronavirus?

Not one single yes so far.

Fear is the pandemic. Be not afraid. Its actually quite funny how easy the cattle are spooked.

We have 15 cases within 20 miles and two of those gentlemen have died so far.
One was a monk from a local temple.
There is nothing funny about this. The only people not taking this seriously are the people it hasn't reached yet.

Just wondering if any of the news and info being disseminated is true and maybe you can help, were the 2 who passed away from the virus both elderly?

They were. Both with underlying health conditions. We only have 6 deaths so far here so it's a bit early to tell.
Someone on tv this morning said 40% of deaths in Italy are in under 60's but I can't find anything regarding that online.

Thank you for the reply. I heard something similar but can’t remember where to provide a link. I believe that they said 70% of deaths worldwide were over 80 years old.
Here in Mi. the first official cases were announced yesterday and the panic is palpable. I had to go to Kroger to get some sausages for quick and easy meatballs to put into the spaghetti and people’s carts were overflowing with stuff! Usually at that time of day there are more Kroger employees shopping for the outside pick up than people shopping for themselves but that definitely wasn’t the case yesterday.
At least there was a bit of humor in it, one gentleman had a cart FULL of kings Hawaiian rolls, and nothing else. I couldn’t help but chuckle and wonder what the hell he was thinking when panic buying all that bread?

Another Lady had an overflowing large size cart and felt the need to tell me, while we were in line, that she wasn’t taking too much because she has a family of 7.

Between the stock market and the grocery store I think that this bug is going to leave a mark. Some people can’t help being afraid, especially of something they can’t see, and the vast majority is unprepared.

It's definitely worth being prepared for. We've had a run on pasta and toilet roll here. Supermarkets are now limiting some items. I have 5 boys in the house so our shopping looks like panic buying at the best of times.
We all have elderly relatives and neighbours. It's probably a good time to check in on them and see if they need their groceries collected for them.

If you dont know them personally, it doesn't count. He said, she said.

FEAR IS THE PANDEMIC.

Do what you like. I'm headed to the grocery store today. I bet the wife we could still get everything we needed by the third store.

She and I had a nice, tension relieving laugh over that one.

How many people KNOW OF SOMEONE PERSONALLY, who has died from this?

I'm not really sure I understand your point. Is it that if you don't know them personally their deaths are not important or that the whole thing is made up like the Earth being round?

5 boys! I feel sorry for your bank account!
I only have 2 boys and a girl and the grocery bill is extreme. My little lady barely eats but the 12 and 9 year old boys don’t ever stop, I couldn’t imagine feeding 3 more of them. With 5 hungry boys I’d be afraid to go to sleep for fear that I’d wake up turning on a spit covered in BBQ sauce.
