Random Thought Thread

^Oh, it was. That's why I clarified, so we would both realize we were on the same plane of thought.

As to weapon model, etc - it would always relate directly to threat. Mat, any threat I would ever face these days would best be met by mid-range caliber, preferably a Sig-Sauer P model, nothing bigger. Only close range threats here.

Now, back to CPKs:D

I just watched a great live video that Bud(Jou Fuu) did on Instagram. Really awesome to watch how he goes through his process. I learned a lot in a short bit of time.

You can even afford to throw a couple of Shivs at 'em and still have enough different Shivs for each day of the week ;)

All that said, Dave is our resident mountain lion whisperer and he can give more insight as to how to wrestle those large kitties :D

Good stuff. You're right, Dave should be along shortly to share his many stories of 'wrestling kitties'... :p:D

He's a wild man, that Dave! I swear!

You guys misunderstood me. It was a Cougar named Kitty.... ;)

The trouble with mountain lions is that I never see them. I know there is one that hangs out where I work in the woods from time to time. But I have never seen one. I've heard the forest go quiet when he is around, but never seen him.

Here is from a couple years ago. You can see me walking by a game camera, then six minutes later he walks by the same way. I never saw him.

He hasn't followed me recently, but he is a lot bigger and healthier these days. He was pretty hungry and skinny two years ago.

Very cool! They are wary suckers, no question.

^ try to sleep with one eye open at all times. It's the in thing when thoughts of a bludgeoning wife weigh heavy on the mind!

I'm quite happy to live in a state with a lower rate of gun ownership and concealed carry - just as long as I have significantly more firepower than the masses.

I've read that Canada has about 1/3 the guns per capita that the US does. Why not just add Canada to your real estate holdings and come up here?

My people (Mennonites) left Pennsylvania in the 1700's and settled parts of Canada. Fortunately, my grandfather immigrated back almost exactly 100 years ago to study medicine. I live in a place where the low tomorrow is 64 and the high is 66, and that's rather typical. Why in the world would I want to move to Canada, LOL? For gun issues? I think not.

I would thank them heartily if they would come to my street and eat some of the cats. Last count 22 houses 18 cats. I almost hit one every day on the way to work. They run all over instead of away.

I'd thank them if they ate you.
Some of us happen to like cats.

Unlikely. They are too small.

The cats on the other hand, seems one of the neighbors called the City who called the SPCA on the cat house, as we call it. First renters on the street and of course they have a herd of cats. Looks like the government is about to step in. Shame. Would you be interested in fostering some of them? Maybe send some money to help get them into a no kill shelter where they might find a new home?

My neighbour that called the city, she's pregnant and can't even go in her garden anymore as they are using it as a littler box and she's afraid of Toxoplasmosis.

Her husband has been trying to run them over apparently. While I appreciate you like cats and want people to blame the owner, the cats are just given thier world they didn't create it, our current societal norms require us to take the punishment out on the cats, not thier owners.

You know, sometimes when a Dog bites someone, they put the dog to sleep, not the person who owns it.

So really, given it's a bad situation, I think I'm kind of doing the cats a favour when I speak of letting them feed a Coyote and contribute back to the Eco-system. Keep the government out of the situation.

It's a lot better than getting put to sleep or run over I would think. Since you also like cats (I never said I didn't like them in fact I have had a water dish with a slow drip all summer long for various critters during our 2+ month long heat wave), why get all emotional about the subject and make personal attacks?
