I've seen them in person when I was in Asia. I'm not generally bothered by flying stinging things that aren't actively stinging me, but this giant thing came buzzing around (and yeah, they're loud) and my reaction was, "What the heck is THAT thing?!! Looks like some kinda overgrown wasp?!".

The locals said, "Those are hornets. Don't go near them and don't squash one. The smell will draw more and the stings REALLY hurt". Yellowjackets are bad enough, thank you. I'll pass on something that looks 5x the size. When it landed nearby, no one moved, and the stinger looked like a hypodermic needle.

A UF which I had sold elsewhere to someone who later on we both discovered to also be members on here, has ended up in the bureaucratic knife purgatory / hell :thumbsdown: :mad:

The UF had a sharpened back of the tip and I was actually very concerned about it going to Aus but the new owner had also bought quite a few knives both from here and there and was quite certain that there would be no issues. Cut a long story short, that UF never made it out of the international dispatch center in Erlanger, KY where they do all the export/ import customs' paperwork. The buyer was automatically refunded by that other place which some say is a huge auction site and then I got an email notifying me that I will not be docked any fund$. That CPK-UF will probably not see the light of day as there was no option to have it returned to me which saddens me very much :(

In closing, no one seems to lose any $ but a very fine knife will be lost for good. I think that Jo is already aware of not shipping certain knives to some international destinations but this will be yet another reminder of such mishaps. The silver lining is that the transaction was carried out over there because had it been a PayPal handled transaction over in here with the Aussie customs getting involved, the results could've turned out to be far worse for at least one of us involved in the transaction.

Glad to hear no one is out the money, but what a shame about the knife.

I don't know why I am always kind of shocked by how much control there is over what sort of tools people can buy. Maybe I'm just too trusting with my thinking that law abiding humans should just be able to buy what they want as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

IIRC Japanese bees have developed a weight to kill them. Basically several of them swarm the was- at a time and with their body heat essential dehydrate it to death. Otherwise those hornets decimate a beehive. It’s vicious.

TBT, I really would like to have that UF back into the fold as opposed to the $. I may contact the business entity which rhymes with SheSay to see if there's a possibility for me to do so but since they deemed it as an "illegal" item :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: I guess that I ought to consider myself lucky that I am not out of that UF plus the $.

That illegal definition is very murky because it could mean illegal to own, illegal to sell on that site or illegal to have it offered to that Intl. destination. As dumb as they are over there, it won't be surprised me in the least if they deem it to be "illegal" on all stated fronts. As I'm writing this, I think that I've just convinced myself to STFU, take my $ and just refrain from even contacting them ;)
 
SheSay’s Global Shipping Program is the default international shipping selected. All I have to do is to get the package safely to their hub in Erlanger, KY where packages get inspected and then routed. I have no idea who they use but mostly FedEx and DHL. I used USPS Priority Mail to get it to KY.
 
Some moron was photographed this weekend doing his grocery shopping in one of our cities in our county of San Diego (there is actually the city of San Diego and its county namesake, but the county also consists of many other cities) wearing a Klan hood for a COVID mask!!!

The sad thing is that this incident happened in the city of Santee which is often pejoratively referred to as Klantee. You can’t even make this shyte up!
