Interesting choice.. I don't really see anything that stands out as highly distinguishable. Any reason you're looking at that specifically?

Support for rackmount surge supressor/power conditioner and a DAC. Mobile by way of caster wheels. Priced under 1K. Available in all black. Secondary shelf for speakers which frees up space on the primary surface. Lower shelf to house a water-cooled PC with an external radiator. From a well-regarded manufacturer in AV work spaces. Drawback is that at 55-inches, overall desk space is somewhat limited. The Studio RTA Producer from Sauder at less than half the price is also under consideration. But is only available in a natural maple/black steel color combination And some reviews have tagged build quality as an issue.

Here is a recipe (or rather an equation) that I discovered at an early age:

Fork + Electrical Outlet = Ouch!

Haaaa....been there, done that. Not with a fork, but with a pair tweezers in Biology class.

I was leaned back in my chair talking to the girl behind me. The teacher hollered at me to get back to my work. When I abruptly came forward, I plugged in. Blew a fuse, melted the tweezers, girl gave me the nickname "Sparky"............. And to get back on topic.......I think we were dissecting cats.

And the conversation with girl? She was telling me how she had named her.......cat...kitten....(you get the idea). Sparky and that feline got together later :D

Not for my own amusement. We had this knife finished that didn't justify a normal sale but it wasn't a special one-off tomfoolery like most "Fun Friday" sales, so I figured why not just stick it out on the main area like I used to do. *shrug*

I was pretty curious to see what would happen.

I'm going to respond real quick to the previous controversy and then let it be, uhmkay? I was going to let it ride, but the second posting of photos showing photoshopped Chinese restaurant signs leads me to the conclusion that my point didn't get across. No need to respond from anyone, I just want to clarify a few things;

-I made an incorrect statement earlier; I literally AM the PC police. I volunteer my time for Bladeforums to ensure the laws here are followed, many of which are socially minded, because I was asked to. There are strict laws, (rules, if you prefer) regarding racism on the site. Although I'm not a moderator of this subforum, I am a founding member of it. I have an interest, on several levels, in keeping it mostly civil and reflective of the quality of the company who pays for it and who I work for.

-W&C is W&C. Reddit is Reddit. This forum is not some subforum of a subforum of a subforum. This is CPK's official forum. People come here to get information about CPK- people of any description, background and walk of life- and all should feel welcome here. While the club vibe here is cool, remember that things that go on 'in here' can and do have a ripple effect 'out there'.

-there were literally three pages of comments regarding eating cats, (mostly propelled by comments from someone who took offense to the concept, and who was subsequently derided) before someone decided to 'go there' and post an image which makes a racial statement. That's a lot of talk and joking about eating cats with no racial element at all, which leads me to believe we can joke around without 'going there'.

-this is Nathan's forum and I have respect for his decisions regarding how it runs, and for the statement he made earlier in this thread. It fills me with joy that this forum is so active after such short a time, and it fills me with blech to have to throw a bucket of cold water on a silly conversation due to an arguably trivial thing. Know that my motivation here is to keep the discourse positive and inclusive. And let me tell you in no uncertain terms that racial, political and religious comments can have consequences.

That is all.

Curiosity killed the cat?!

No, I didn't. Oh yeah, I just bloody hell did :D

So I have been installing these Leviton TVSS receptacles (industrial grade) around the house. Fed by dedicated 20A circuits for A/V and PC use. VPR of 600V is not ideal for sensitive electronics (Eaton TVSS receptacles are rated at 400V), but they are assisted upstream at the panel by a Type 2 SPD while attached devices will be supplemented with a Type 3 series mode brick. Not sure if the local utility (SCE) will allow for a Type 1 SPD to accomodate line side surges, will find out on Monday.

OK, it's your forum and what you say goes, but IMHO, those signs are not racist and are not intended to be. They have been posted on the forums without repercussion before.
There have been no derogatory remarks made about Asians or any other culture. (I could make a derogatory remark about Canuckistan, but I won't. :p)

Anyway, no more jokes from me from now on.

In other words, business usual? :p

I'm a full-blooded Asian with papers and stuff like that doesn't really bother me. I've heard it all and some of it is pretty funny. I'm an Asian redneck...I got a couple shotguns, rifles and 4wds. Yall just don't know how many times my friends would threaten to blindfold me with dental floss and take my chopsticks away! lol

For those of you with residential PV panels, be aware that incoming power is fairly dirty after DC to AC conversion at the inverter (whether string or micro). To bring voltage down to a manageable level in the event of a large spike or a surge, an SPD is recommended to be installed at the PV load center. While there exist superior options with higher Joule ratings, lower clamping values and longer warranties, the HEPD80 is a cost-effective solution.
