^ sad to see that you're spending yourself out of the knife market. If I had known you'd be going all the way on this new abode of yours, I would've bought more shares of Home Depot :D

It is a bit sad. FYI, local material suppliers are almost always able to beat HD in the cost department :) . On another note, congratulations to ExtraBaconPlease ExtraBaconPlease ! I read that girls attending Western Australian public schools are now allowed to wear shorts to school. Can't imagine how they must have suffered through the heat Down Under all these years...

^ I agree with Tony. I am no prude by any means and have a potty mouth at times which can make a sailor blush, but I feel that some folks are unknowingly pushing the envelop. Before you post something that can be questionable ask yourself this, would you be comfortable with the posting if your wife/GF/SO reads that post? I ask this because Mrs. Carothers aka Jo reads almost every post on here as she's also a Mod on this forum.

Whoa. The Chinese restaurant signs were a challenge for me, but this has now crossed the line for me, too. Pics like the pants pic objectify half the population of the planet and perpetuate a culture of oppression of women.

Sexism and racism have no place in the CPK forum I want to be a part of.

Women in tight pants? Schoolgirls in shorts? Let knives be the objects of our lust here!

Looks as if I missed a dirty post  ! Can't help but feel I led to the debauchery in some fashion, though my initial post was rooted in both innocence and incredulousness :) . I was perusing both bladeforums.com and nytimes.com in separate tabs and happened upon the NYT article regarding the recent lift on the ban of shorts in what I perceived to be a region with a rather hot climate. Residing in SoCal where shorts are the norm rather than the exception, I could only imagine the discomfort of years past

Please forgive me if my projections on your post were inaccurate. That's what I read into your congratulating EBP for girls now being able to wear shorts to school in his country.

All good. I just happened upon the article and thought it was an interesting and random means to move the discussion away from the existing. No harm, no foul :)

Adam, since I imagine that the public schools and the prep school systems in Australia must be modeled after the ones in Britain, from what I experienced and recall both boys and girls had to adhere to strict uniforms. For boys it was pants and blazer jacket and also depending on the age of the boys, rules of some schools and also the time of the year, some boys were allowed to wear knee high shorts with their blazer jackets. The girls wore jackets and knee high plaid skirts with long stockings. Those were quite different times though.

From time to time, I visit the sites of major residential tract builders in the area (KB, Shea, Williams Lyon, et al) to gain insight into their layouts, construction methods and materials used. A few weeks ago, I toured a site being developed by D.R. Horton where USB receptacles appear to have gained a foothold in the kitchen. So I implemented the idea in my own kitchen, improving upon the idea by installing them horizontally (neutral facing up).

On to knives we go...So what do you guys think about Kirinite handles? Was looking at the Rhino Chop and AEB-L goodness, but was concerned about it being top-rack dishwasher safe. The RC is in the short list as the next kitchen addition...

My basic rule is never put anything in the dishwasher I care about.

I never use the dishwasher. Washing dishes by hand is kind of therapeutic for me. I won't be surprised if the dishwasher is defunct by now because of its extensive inactivity!
