Random Thought Thread

I have a feeling they might be in Seattle at some point in the future, so maybe there'll be a road trip coming up! I miss road trips to concerts, I haven't had one in a couple decades

My last road trip was to Los Angeles in 2001 when I saw Phish and Pink Floyd and heard the Dalai lama speak. Fun times, fun times!

there was a Dead show in Ohio a few of us went to back in my university daze. The was a looong, straaange trip. My buddy sewed a bunch of lsd into his show and we only found out about it once we were across the border. We almost left him there. That concert and all the stuff going on around it was some weird shit.

I don't think anyone will ever know with any certainty. As for the pornography he keeps posting, all those outlets in all their glory...

well, things are pretty random around here, so it's all good

Was the show around Cleveland? At Blossom Music Center?

If model homes are available, I will go in as a prospective buyer. If under construction, an industry associate is usually able to provide me guest access. Else, I will make arrangements through the site superintendent or a project manager. No disguises, access is typically granted so long as safety guidelines are adhered to and the approval is called in by management. FYI, the outlets I posted are nothing particularly special. Hospital grade receptacles are where it is at, of which the nicer ones will set you back around $90 per. I have a few custom cryo treated hospital grade outlets as well as ones plated in rhodium, palladium and platinum from when I was pretending to be an audiophile while wearing a tinfoil hat.

I'm pretty sure it was this show;

I drove from Waterloo with 3 of my buddies, got there just in time for the show, drove back the same night. Damn epic
Then, in '95 when I was in Ashland for bike school- land of deadheads- Gerry died. It was like the whole town was in mourning
Not that into the music, but sure glad I was exposed to it the way I was. All those people just spinning around, huge beach balls everywhere, and an unavoidable contact high...

Only saw the Dead once. LA Sports Arena in the 90's. There was a massive gathering at Griffith Park when Jerry passed. I remember the tail end of Haight and Ashbury, right before the tides of urban renewal rolled through. GD is in my all-time top ten.

Top five in no particular order has to be GNR, Metallica (up to ...And Justice for All), Slayer (up to Seasons in the Abyss), Gangstarr and Mobb Deep. Wedding song was Satriani's Always with Me, Always with You. I am full-blooded late eighties and early nineties Metal, but am also rooted in Hip-Hop from the same time period.

Haha! My first show was Ozzy, Ultimate sin tour. Metallica opened, Master of Puppets tour (Cliff was still alive). Saw GNR on Appetite for Decstruction (incredible show) and then again recently (Slash was still incredible). The inscription in my wife's wedding band...
Satriani.

I saw on FB that the first of the NASK pre-orders were just shipped out - how many in this batch?

They will be on going and shipping as they finish. The first four shipped out today. There are 70 more in the final stages now. The goal is to ship 20 to the pre-order and save 20 for the Friday sale this week. Then we'll switch over to 100% to the preorder for a while and start the final work on a micro batch of about a dozen optimized 4V Light Choppers. That will be the glorious end of the fantastic LC.

edit to add: it represents an insane amount of work for just a dozen knives (we've destruction tested more than that). We did the 4V to get our feet wet on the material in preparation for working on the upcoming BladeSports competition knives. We've been working on it and testing over the last year. Work on these choppers started last winter.

I'll be looking forward to this Friday's sale and will be right by my keyboard when the thread unlocks! I'm hoping my fingers will be fast enough to snatch one this time!

Idk but I hope I made the cut. I'm #6 on the preorder.

VXD was the first on that list. I think that Nathan means the first 4 buyers on the list, rather than the first four NASKs (HDFK). If so, NANDOK will be # 4. That was one of the very rare occasions when I somehow beat you to it

I'm # 5 and your at # 6. However since I asked for one in antique micarta, that may delay me a bit more. I dunno though, because seems the antique micarta handle scales to be ready as evident by those who requested it for the HDFK-D2.

It was Richfield (checked my tix).
I knew I saw you there! I remember because my friend was like, "Those dudes are tripping hard!" And I was like,"Nah, they're just Canadian."
Turns out we were both right!

I'm just kidding. It was Richfield, though.

What happened to this?
As I'm building them, half the knives made will go to this pre-order, the other half will be sold in regular sales. This means you will see knives being sold while you're waiting for your knife.

I didn't get in on the pre-order because of reading that and thinking I will just buy them on the Friday sales. I also don't like paying up front in full, so it made sense to just wait for the sale(s).

I really hope I don't have to wait until all the pre-orders are done before I can get one..

(FYI, I'm proxying this weeks sale for two friends)

I really hope it stays 50% of the knives made go to pre orders and 50% for Friday sales...!!!!
